Renewed: Being Human. Axed: Outcasts

It's good news, bad news for the ABC today with one UK series renewed while another is axed.

It’s a case of good news, bad news for the ABC today with confirmation that UK series Being Human has won a fourth series, but new sci-fi drama Outcasts has been axed.

Being Human, which premieres its third season on ABC2 this week, wins a fourth season of 8×60′ episodes.

BBC Three acting controller Harry Lansdown said: “Being Human‘s brilliant mixture of fantasy and everyday life continues to provide must-see, ground breaking drama for BBC Three, and I’m delighted to announce a fourth series for 2012.”

Writer Toby Whithouse said, “We’ve got another intense and epic story lined up for you, with some new faces and old, and even more horror and mayhem and mugs of tea. I can’t wait to get started.”

However due to falling ratings Outcasts, which will air in Australia later this year, will stand as 8 episodes.

Set in the year 2040 the series starred Hermione Norris, Liam Cunningham and Ugly Betty‘s Eric Mabius. It followed a group of pioneering humans have been living on a distant planet for the past 10 years, following some serious trouble back home.

The official Twitter account for the show has stated, “No series two Outcasts – we’re sorry.

“Thanks so much for all your support over the past three months.”

Axed on Twitter. So 2011.

  1. Just typical really, Outcasts definitely didn’t deserve the bad press it got, sure the script had its problems and plot holes there were a few But it was different and interesting and developed the characters as it traveled along.
Survivors was a great show also axed in similar circumstances…pathetic how we are subjected to same cheap boring formulaic tripe like the weightloss competitions and “entertainment” competitions like Xfactor…..Macca’s TV wins out again BBC you suck

  2. That’s a real disappointment about Outcasts – it’s been one of the better new shows of the season. It’s not brilliant, but I really was baffled as to some of the negative reviews it received. I still recommend it to viewers when it comes to ABC later in the year.

  3. I really liked outcasts and don’t really get all the hate spewed at it on the internets …and sorry brisvegas…no spoilers but it does end on a cliffhanger 🙁
