Good news for Nine as Hot in Cleveland is renewed for 22 episodes for its third season.

Finally some good news for Nine’s “Home of Comedy” branding (ok, admittedly Hamish & Andy was a coup).

US sitcom Hot in Cleveland has been renewed for a third season.

Cable network TV Land has ordered 22 more episodes.

“The chemistry that this cast has with each other is undeniable so we are excited to bring Hot in Cleveland back for another season,” said Larry W. Jones, president of TV Land.

The  SAG Awards agreed with that sentiment, recently nominating the cast as Best Ensemble.

Any truth in the rumour that Betty White is now demanding $4m an episode because she is turning tin can gags into gold? Nah…..

  1. I love Betty White and Jane Leeves, and like Wendie Malick, even warming to Valerie Bertinelli – but if only this show was cleverer and funnier. The writing is lazy, and yes it has great chemistry between the women – but the first 10 eps were hardly noteworthy – the SAG noms was bizarre – White’s win even more so – but i get the love for her as the last remaining Golden Girl (my all time fave sitcom). Just hope the writers play a little more with Season 2. Perhaps the Susan Harris creation is too high a bar for anything else, but hard not to see this as a poor woman’sGG.

  2. Great news,love Betty White.She is so funny and a legend of comedy and still going strong at her age.Looking foward to it returning to channel Nine soon l hope.

Maybe Hot in Cleveland can take place as Nine’s 7pm show for the rest of the year.Unlike 2.5 men it is actually funny but tradition does tell us however that Sale of the Century/Temptation would work a lot better at that time of night after the News/Current Affairs show(It worked from 1980 to 2001 and again from 2005 to 2009)so why don’t they try either concept.

  12. 9 also has rights to Mad Love, it’s US ratings are somewhat optimistic, and should be useable for 9. it would be a good partner for this show in a comedy block. Maybe on wed as a leadin to FWAW and mike&molly can move to tues to replace the BBT (r).
