US cop drama Southland has been renewed for a fourth season.
Cable network TNT has ordered 10 new episodes of the gritty series, which stars former OC star Ben McKenzie, plus Shawn Hatosy and Regina King.
In the US it averaged 2.9 million viewers in its third season, up 6% from the second season.
In Australia the series has most recently aired on GEM.
Meanwhile TNT also greenlit Perception, a new series for Eric McCormack (Will & Grace) who stars as an eccentric neuroscientist who helps the federal government solve complex crimes. Rachael Leigh Cook, Arjay Smith and Kelly Rowan also star.
The show is created by writer Kenneth Biller (Star Trek: Voyager, Smallville, Legend of the Seeker).

Yet another fantastic US show I watch via ‘other means’. Why? Because I can listen in Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, watch in 720p HD when I want to and every week. Australian TV really has lost the plot.
Kelly Rowan! Good news for 2 O.C cast members then.
So the best show on TV at the moment.
Great news. Such an underrated show.
Easily the best cop show on TV right now. It’s a shame hardly anyone watches it. It’d be great if GEM aired the third season soon.
Never heard of it.
In Australia the series has most recently aired on GEM.
