Series seven of Degrassi: The Next Generation will air on ABC3 from this Sunday night.

Series seven of Degrassi: The Next Generation will air on ABC3 from this Sunday night.

The series picks up in the middle of a school year already riddled with tragedy: a fire at Lakehurst, the school of JT’s killer, forces many of its students into the halls of Degrassi with explosive results.

In the first episode, Darcy, in her final semester of grade eleven, finds herself being pulled in two different directions. And when she chooses her bad boy boyfriend Peter (Jamie Johnston) over her parents, she quickly finds herself in scary, uncharted territory.

Amidst the newfound clutter and chaos, Spinner (Shane Kippel) and Darcy (Shenae Grimes) deal with dark, personal tragedies, Jimmy (Aubrey Graham) and Ashley (Melissa McIntyre) test their love, and Emma (Miriam McDonald) and Manny (Cassie Steele) explore new, surprising relationships all while hurtling toward graduation.

At the university house, the gang gets a new roommate. Ellie (Stacey Farber) and Marco (Adamo Ruggiero) discover that exploring their new freedom comes with dire consequences, while Paige gets a great new job, but learns quickly the demands of the real world.

It returns Sunday, April 3 at 8.30pm on ABc3.

  1. I am not a teenager myself nor a parent of one but shows like this teach teenagers a lot of things that our home grown soaps don’t and a great role model at that.
Why Australia can’t make anything as good as Degrassi will never be known

  2. Why is the season 7 premiere episode ‘Standing in the Dark – Part 1’ scheduled to air both tomorrow and Sunday evening at 8.30pm? Once Degrassi: TNG ends I would like to see earlier Degrassi or Press Gang.

  3. This is easily in my top 5 tv shows. I grew up with old Degrassi and have all the dvd’s and even a couple of the books they put out.

It is a great show for teenagers to learn from.

  4. This is a great show.I am hoping the ABC shops bring out the earlier seasons Australia didn’t get on DVD soon enough.
ABC 3 are doing the right thing by putting Degrassi TNG on an hour or two later than the Home Grown Australian Soaps and deserves to succeed. The acting is better than anything one will find on Home and Away or Neighbours.

  5. This show is great its one of the few remakes which works even in today’s world. I would like it if ABC 3 played some classic shows which came from canada such as My Best Friend is an Alien that was great.

  6. Its really a great show about time Australia is catching up with the rest of world, we would get to season 3 and start over again because once again it is too “mature” for our screens.

    1. I always use “Returning” when a new season is starting, in this case it happens to be back to back, just as it is for Nurse Jackie on ELEVEN next week. Happens very occasionally.

According to ABC Guide info I have it is scheduled as Sunday, maybe they switched schedules later.

  7. Hi David,
Are you sure season 7 starts this Sunday because last night’s episode was the penultimate episode of season 6.
This means that the season 6 finale is on tonight and that season 7 should be starting tomorrow night Friday instead of Sunday.
