Returning: Getting On

Jo Brand's hospital comedy Getting On is finally returning to ABC1 for a second series.

It’s dry but painfully true…

Hospital comedy Getting On is finally returning to ABC1 for a second series.

Featuring Jo Brand, the UK series about life in a public hospital is part scripted, part improvisation. The Office in a hospital ward….

The critically acclaimed comedy set in the geriatric ward of a National Health female medical ward returns with more bleak and tough humour.

Tackling life and death as part of their daily grind, the doctors and nurses in ward B4 find dignity, honesty and charm among the bedpans. It is the ward that dares not speak its name.

Kim’s threatened suspension is still hanging over her, new patients bring in new problems, Den and Hilary’s relationship continues and the stiff Dr Pippa Moore’s career is under the microscope.

A planned new wing is dangled before the staff and Pippa’s investigation into stools is a hit.
Retu

It’s back at 10:00pm Thursday March 17th on ABC1.

  1. OMG, I am stoked about this. One of the funniest things I saw on TV last year. I was devastated when it disappeared after a few weeks (short run). Pippa regularly had me in absolute stitches.
    Bring it on!

  2. This was one of the funniest shows I saw last year! And it’s like Kath & Kim, the more times you watch it, the more you see things you missed out on the first time.

So glad it’s back, and glad it will be a longer series.

  3. This show is without doubt the funniest thing to come out of the UK since Ab Fab.

Jo Brand is so hilarious in this show, half of her brilliance is in her body language and not what she says … the scenes where they show Jo Brand looking on at the ridiculousness or pettiness of a situation are hilarious.

And the episode from season 1 where they tried to use a linguist over the phone and translate what a Pakistani lady was saying had me laughing till I wet my pants (gooly galaba …. please kill me now …. note it on her file) …..

  4. Great news,l loved the first series. The first series was only 90 minutes long l brought the dvd. This series is much longer l read series 2 run time is 6 hours.Jo Brand is very funny talented woman ,she was great with her live on stage shows.I saw her live on stage in late 1980s in England and she was amazing. This series she has co written as well.

  5. @ Jimmy – 6 episodes is normal over there. Can you actually imagine a show like this with a 25 episode season anyway? It would be too excessive…

  6. well with the ratings it got in the uk, i’ll be shocked if it gets a third series… and why the heck does the uk only have a “season” of 3 or 6 episodes???
