SBS Indigenous news and current affairs show Living Black returns to screen with host Karla Grant.

Its first episode will look at the Indigenous communities in Queensland and New South Wales that were flood and cyclone affected.

Australia’s leading Indigenous news and current affairs show, Living Black, returns this March, to take audiences on a journey around the country to tell vital stories important to all Australians about life and current issues from an Indigenous perspective. This season’s premiere episode will be filmed in the flood and cyclone damaged regions of Queensland and New South Wales, and will focus on the effect the devastating environmental disasters have had on the Indigenous communities in those areas.

With Karla Grant, one of Australia’s foremost Indigenous female media personalities at the helm, the Living Black team includes video journalists Kodie Bedford, Allan Clarke and the recently promoted, former cadet Ramahn Allam.

“The team will journey to some of the most remote corners of Australia. They’ll spend quality time with people getting to know them, delving deeper, and getting to the heart of their unique and important stories.

“In 2011 we’ll continue to highlight issues that need attention and celebrate Indigenous achievements. To begin the season, we will travel to flood and cyclone affected regions to investigate what impact these recent natural disasters that have gripped the nation, have had on local Indigenous communities,” Karla Grant, host of Living Black.

In 2011, Living Black will continue to provide comprehensive and insightful coverage of Indigenous issues that are relevant for all Australians. From topical news and current affairs, to features examining stories in more detail, as well as showcasing and celebrating Indigenous triumphs – Living Black gives all Australians a place to learn more about the nation’s first peoples.

It returns 4.30pm Sunday March 13th on SBS ONE.
