Rumour: Enrique Iglesias asked to host US X Factor

Enrique Iglesias has reportedly been approached to join the US X Factor line-up -as host not judge.

Deadline is reporting that pop sensation Enrique Iglesias has been approached to join the US X Factor line-up -as host not judge.

Simon Cowell’s US version of the talent juggernaut is coming to US television later this year and media are playing a guessing game over who will join the judging panel.

No host or judges have been locked in yet for auditions, which begin on March 27th.

Cowell has said George Michael, former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger and Mariah Carey also are being considered. Jessica Simpson is also said to have been in talks.

Music producer and record exec L.A. Reid is reportedly the first judge to be named. He is CEO of Island Def Jam Music Group.

Cowell dismissed rumors that Elton John was in the running: “Well, he’s so grumpy nowadays, I mean, it would be like, he’d just be moaning the whole time.”

  1. Enrique should be a judge not a host. I dont think the lamens american would understand hes accent. On the plus side if he did happen to get the hosting role then he would be a big hit in the latino community. On the rest of the judging panel i think Simon needs to pick people who can offer something more then just their opinion, or most then just rants. Remember this show has a mentoring component aswell. I highly doubt that Simon will want another Kyle Sandilands episodes where he didnt turn up to the Mentoring sessions.
