2011 BAFTA Awards: TV nominations

Misfits and Sherlock lead the nominations at this year's BAFTA Awards for Television.

The BAFTA Awards have announced nominations for their TV categories, which are presented in late May, separate from the Film Awards in February.

Sci-fi drama Misfits leads this year’s nominations, with nods in four categories, including Best Drama Series, plus Robert Sheehan and Lauren Socha for Best Supporting Actor and Actress.

Sherlock is next with three nominations including Best Drama Deries, Benedict Cumberbatch as Leading Actor and Martin Freeman for Best Supporting Actor.

Rounding out the Drama category are Being Human and Downton Abbey.

Best comedy programme hopefuls are Catherine Tate’s Little Cracker, Come Fly With Me, Facejacker and Harry and Paul.

The Awards will take place on Sunday 22nd May.

  1. I don’t know what I’d say if Robert Sheehan won. He does great work in Misfits and is easily the strongest thing about it, but he’s being a right prick in leaving without giving the producers a chance to tie up the loose ends. Can’t he even come back for one episode?

  2. @JB – sadly, Robert Sheehan’s departure is not a rumour. He won’t appear at all in Series Three and his character will be written out in an online episode preceding Series Three’s return.

  3. Jo Brand deserves to win for Getting On, so brilliant. Love Misfits as well and the two noms are much deserved. Must be a sad year for Britcoms when Mrs Brown’s Boys is nominated; that is such a dated show reminding me of the old Graham Kennedy days.

  4. Lauren Socha and Robert Sheehan are absolutely brilliant in Misfits. I laugh every time they speak. Any truth to the rumour Robert Sheehan won’t be in season 3???
