This week SBS series Monster Moves shifts from inanimate objects to the animal kingdom.

The animal movers are big thinking, larger than life characters working with the ultimate delivery deadline – their cargo must always arrive on time, intact…and alive.

The tasks involve mind-boggling engineering problems and logistics. Special crates need constructing in
some cases. Aircraft innards need reinforcing to support the weight of a shark pool. And a herd of 80
elephants need rounding up.

There are races against time, battles against storms and quarrels in quarantine. CGI animation peels away the animal’s skin to explore its anatomy and explain the biological, psychological and engineering challenges of moving each living beast.

Episode 1: Sharks
This episode follows Australian marine expert Lyle Squire Junior attempt to move two silvertip sharks
7,000 miles from Cairns to Dubai. The team must build special ‘shark pools’ to safely contain the animals
while they fly them in the hold of a commercial aircraft to Dubai, via Hong Kong.

Begins Saturday, 9 April at 7.30pm on SBS ONE (4-part series)
