TEN has confirmed controversial News Limited columnist Andrew Bolt will front a new talk-format The Bolt Report on Sunday morning from May 8th.

The show will air at 10am.

Bolt has been a regular on ABC’s Insiders for ten years, but he won’t go head to head with the Barrie Cassidy-hosted show which airs for an hour at 9am.

Meet the Press will move to 10:30am. The Paul Biongiorno-hosted show currently airs at 8am.

Bolt has also been an occasional panellist on The 7PM Project and Q & A where his outspoken comments often generate heated debate, including from the audience.

Earlier this week it was reported that new TEN shareholder, mining magnate Gina Rinehart was an advocate of Bolt’s.

He is currently appearing in a high-profile litigation case being conducted under claims he has breached the Racial Discrimination Act.

  1. Andrew I used to love Q&A, I have just emailed them saying I’ll Never watch it again. OMG they are all soooo left it’s not funny. So is the audience. Bill Shorten for PM omg are some people crazy. This government is a complete joke. I told them to get You on the show But they are not game you would eat them alive. I Love The Bolt Report

  2. Aside from the fact that everything about this show is completely biased and one sided in favor of the liberal party and that i found the consistant mudslinging and reporting of opinion as fact, I also thought of some keywords which would describe Bolt’s personality along with the dying breed of dinosaur liberal fanatics out there:

Arrogant, condescending, smug, ignorant, agressive, insensitive.

I could accept this if there was an equal amount of slinging mud in every direction – then it would be a show about abusing others without discrimination and we could all possibly have a laugh about it as putting people down is fun apparently.

I will not be watching again and everything about the show actually made me feel ill and made me realise that mankind is in Deep trouble.

  3. With Bolt’s current range of sycophantic guests, the obvious name for the program should be ‘Nuts and Bolts’. I would very much like to know if the program is sponsored by the Liberal Party?

  4. No no, I meant that given the avalanche of anti-Bolt letters and the veritable lack of pro-Bolt letters the kind of people who like Bolt obviously don’t visit TVTonight. 🙂

  5. How strange

Fox News has just axed rightwing racist lunatic Glenn Beck and TEN has just hired rightwing racist lunatic Andrew Bolt.

The sad thing is that Gina Rinehart will probably insist Bolt appear on the nightly news, the 6.30pm with Negus and the 7pm Project – because Sunday mornings won’t satisfy her quench for rightwing racist reporting!

  6. @ jen13 – please direct me to some of these ‘facts’ you would like me to ‘face’

It is not that there is an opposing viewpoint, it is that it is a completely unfounded and unresearched viewpoint. Just yelling ‘no you are wrong’ is not a fact based statement – it is just opinion. And it doesn’t help in a country where people seem to be allergic of educating themselves about certain issues.

I also challenge anyone to point to any study that has found the ABC to have a left wing bias – the 2009 ANU study found they actually went slightly to the right. (see what I did there? It is called research in case you missed it)

  7. Zero interest in more political commentary on television. That’s why I’ve stopped tuning into Sky News as often as I used to watch. What happens to Video Hits? Will it move to the earlier slot or be snipped?

  8. PMSL at many of the comments here. Free speech is apparently only allowed if it is the same view as yours. Oh dear! Where was all the outrage when Richo got his own show? The country has certainly gone down the gurgler since the unbiased Kerry O’Brien left his own ALP ivory tower.
If you don’t like someone’s views, you don’t watch him, but to criticise the right of other people to watch, is pure arrogance. I’m gonna watch it as a democratic right, and to really annoy the people who don’t.

  9. I don’t know this Bolt guy, but I do know why he’s in court at the moment and I agree with what he says.
It’s not racist, he’s accusing people of being opportunists and claiming something when it suits them. And I’ve certainly seen enough of that for myself to know it’s true. Shock. Horror. Face facts people.

  10. @Geoff.I don’t think you are going to have much sway with making people to want to watch Bolt on David’s blog. The readers of this blog are far more intelligent and enlightened than those conspiracy right wing people who inhabit and read Bolt”s blog, and sadly believe his lies that comes from the right wing of the Republican Party. This man loves Hanson and anyone else who has racist views.
We don’t want him making people who are born a different race to him to feel inferior

  11. Since the Bolt Report is an infomercial for the Liberal Party, shouldn’t it be aired when all infomercials are aired.Say 3.00 am??
Bolt lies and distorts all views regarding climate change. His scientsists have no credibilty and he tries to ram those lies down the throat of his readers to the Herald Sun.

  12. A balanced perspective does not mean that you have to give equal time to every crackpot and nutjob, no matter what their political leanings. Bolt doesn’t even allow people with opposing views to finish their point when he’s a guest on other programs, and frequently mis-represents information to hammer home his message. He’ll be insufferable if given free-rein on his own show and I won’t be watching. If someone wants to post a list of advertisers on his show, I will happily boycott them.

@Trix – that is comedy gold!

  13. Why is it that people who shout the need for democracy and free speech get so threatened when someone shows views contrary to their own? I don’t agree with everything Andrew Bolt says but he has the right to say it.

Denying climate change is not a crime, questioning multiculturalism is not a crime. The press is there to present both sides of arguments and this is my problem with a range of media outlets including Fox News, ABC, and The Age.

If you don’t like Bolt, exercise your right and change channels but don’t deny those who choose to watch him.

  14. @ The dibs, if you don’t want Bolt’s views forced upon you— simple, Don’t watch! You have a thing called a remote.

There is alot of critisizm for the show considering it is still over a month away from debuting. Shouldn’t we be giving it a chance? How do we know that Ten hasn’t got someone with opposite views they plan on sitting next to Bolt for arguements? Or someone to keep his views in check if they go too far?

It’s just great TEN is taking a risk and putting someone on Television that will actually mention the real issues in Australia.

  15. Andew Bolt forever complains about abc and othe media outlets being left wing.
Never has Australia seen a commentator who is so biased. he is not a commentator,he is just a mouthpeice for the liberal party. The extreme right of the liberal party.

  16. This guy is a joke. The easiest thing to do in this world is just have a go everything and everybody. We want fair debate in this country. Not left or right wing opions forced on us. How this guys gets himself on so many shows amazes me. He must have a great manager or is very cheap. I am not interested in him. Insiders will be better with out him. Bad bad move ten. This guy has no credibilty at all. And I am not a labour voter. Just want fair balanced reporting

  17. “Shouldn’t all opinions be valued and treated equally, or is it if they differ to your own, you are considered an extremist?”

No, all opinions shouldn’t be treated equally if they’re unsupported by evidence. For example if I was given a free platform to announce to the world my theory that the world is flat, I would be laughed at by the vast majority of the population because it goes against the vast majority of scientific evidence.

The problem with giving equal airtime to theories which aren’t supported by evidence is they increase their credibility among people who aren’t familiar with the evidence… The more times you hear something repeated, the more likely you are to believe it’s true. We have this weird situation now where more and more people believe there’s a genuine controversy over climate change, while the scientific consensus grows more and more unanimous, and people like Bolt are one of the main reasons for that.
