Assault charges against Ernie Dingo have been dropped following successful mediation proceedings.
Dingo, 54, had pleaded not guilty to an assault charge after the family of an 11-year-old boy told police the TV personality had slapped the boy during a school assembly at Carnarvon 900km north of Perth last July.
The Age reports a spokeswoman said that because mediation between the two parties had been successful, it was agreed that the matter would be discontinued.
Dingo was due to face trial in the Carnarvon Magistrates Court next week.

@Straight Shooter.Agree with you 110%,you’re absolutely right Absolutely but you must admit…..it was funny.
This whole experience has no doubt had a profound effect on the child, the child’s family, Ernie’s family, and Ernie’s TV career.
Making light of the fact is quite inappropriate.
Wonder what changed hands
@Sacs – hehe

@Sacs haha clever
Meryl Streep will star in the film of the alleged incident and deliver the line: “A Dingo slapped my baby!”
