Elle to host US reality series

Elle MacPherson, who has been hosting Britain’s Next Top Model, now has a US series coming to NBC.

Fashion Star is set to air in 2012, a designer series in which the winner will receive a multimillion-dollar contract to have a new fashion line featured in top retail stores.

Unlike Project Runway designers will create more accessible fashions allowing viewers to buy the designs created by the contestants, even the losers, online. NBC will receive a portion of the sales.

The series has been sold to NBC by former network Programming head Ben Silverman.

Silverman also headed up Reveille productions (The Biggest Loser, The Office, Ugly Betty, Kath and Kim) before selling the company to Elisabeth Murdoch.
