Facebook hijack: Daryl, Livinia, Plucka nominated for Gold Logie

Exclusive: Angry Hey Hey fans have bombarded online Logie voting to ensure Daryl Somers, Livinia Nixon and Plucka Duck are all nominated for Gold.

Exclusive: The TV Week Logie Awards new online voting system has backfired after Hey Hey it’s Saturday fans hijacked the votes, in a bid to bring their favourite show back to air.

Daryl Somers, Livinia Nixon and Plucka Duck have all been nominated for the Gold Logie Award in a stunning turn of events.

Frantic Logie organisers are scrambling to complete a forensic investigation into their IT systems to see if any multiple IP addresses can be discounted ahead of the official announcement of nominees on Sunday afternoon.

But Hey Hey Facebook fans, which number over 600,000, have carefully orchestrated a three-pronged approach to guarantee Somers, Nixon and Plucka a place in the final 8 nominees.

The other five nominees expected to be revealed on Sunday are:
– Rebecca Gibney, Packed to the Rafters
– Jessica Marais, Packed to the Rafters
– Hugh Sheridan, Packed to the Rafters
– Zoe Ventoura, Packed to the Rafters
– Ben Elton, Live from Planet Earth

Hey Hey it’s Saturday is also considered to be unbeatable in the Best Light Entertainment category.

A Facebook campaign was instrumental in bringing Hey Hey back to screen but now fans angered by the show’s non-renewal have directed their fury at Channel Nine by trying to disrupt “television’s night of nights.”

This year’s Logie voting was conducted entirely online for the first time, but there are Red Faces amongst Nine management and ACP magazines after nobody foresaw the growing power of social networking.

One insider told TV Tonight, “Heads will roll for this one. They are stuck between a rock and a hard place. The whole thing is strictly audited but they are having to sort through every vote with a fine toothcomb and the clock is ticking.

“They should never have pissed off those fans. The irony is after the dismal “Home of Laughter” campaign Nine would bloody kill to have those Hey Hey numbers now.”

Logie nominations will be formally announced on Sunday.

  1. @ Matt and all the other knockers about my comments , there are more important things In the world then just a T.V show granted , but at the same time Is this not a site devoted to express views about T.V shows with people like myself on here all the time expressing there views ? that’s what i thought It was all about .

And my view was that I found It unfunny to make a prank out of something that no doubt was intended to get a rise out of people ( like myself ) and provide fuel ( for the haters ) deny It all you want but at the end of the day you know It’s true .

I may come across as a drama queen on here , but I don’t care .

So before you tell me to get a life or something along those lines , take a good look at what you write on here cause all you are expressing views everyday on this site which therefore makes you all hypocrits.

oh and dont “feel sorry for me” cause I’m sure not sorry .

  2. @Shannon,
Your funny mate. I feel so sorry for you that you had to write those comments. I wouldn’t expect your comments from a 10 year old. It’s a bit of fun and if you don’t see that there’s something wrong. I thought it was a great joke and so did the other 99% of comments.

Let’s act like mature people and remember that HHIS is only a Tv show. Amazes me in laughter when some fans make out like it’s a human life (dont you have anything better to do?). Seriously, grow up, have fun in life and move on. Find more important things to worry about. The dinosaur years have came to an end. (For a Hey Hey fan, I thought you would have a sense of humor :/

On a lighter note, this would have to be the best April Fools I have read in years. I was totally fooled for about an hour. Well done David!

  3. oh hahhahahaha very bloody funny! take the p**s out of us hey hey fans. and to all the haters out there. Go suck a lemon losers! and btw yes channel nine is going down the tube and i’d like to think its us hey hey fans that helped sink a few dud nine ships. Hey Hey all the way.

  4. @ Shannon Butler
You poor fellow, I am genuinely sorry for you. All the shows I’ve loved over the years have similarly been cancelled or badly treated by the networks. That’s life – particularly for me, for if I love a TV show it’s virtually the kiss or death!
So let it go. HHIS is just a TV show – and honestly not a very good one at that – and it had a long run over several decades so you really can’t complain.
Just pick up a newspaper Shannon, there are many more important things that deserve your anger and sorrow than David poking gentle fun at a TV dinosaur.

  5. @Shannon Butler – you’re not doing a very good job of boycotting this site.

It was exactly the perfect subject for a gag. Not so that David or any of us could have a go at HHiS, but because it was topical and, frankly, very plausible. It was really very well done.

HHiS isn’t low-brow (you’re thinking of The Footy Show) but it is a style of show that has had it’s day. I used to enjoy it in the ’80s, but then I grew older and so did the show’s lame humour. Personally, I don’t care if it comes back or not, but you have to understand that it wasn’t rating well enough for the amount of money it cost to make. Behaving so preciously about something as unimportant as a TV show just makes you appear a little silly, if not actually “a nutter” (as you refer to yourself).

  6. @Jake if the show doesn’t return we know where Nine are headed – complete and utter oblivion. People keep thinking it’s coincidence that everything of Nine’s has failed this year? Well it’s not and to prove it time will tell, stay tuned and find out.

  7. Hey Hey…is a total embarrassment and it’s amazing that it lasted for as long as it did. The show won’t return I’m sure…the only way for the show to return is if the fans of the show get people meters attached to their television sets!!! (not likely!)

  8. @ David , I have read your previous articles and I agree with you , but at the same time by doing what you did today , you have just given the haters more “oxygen” to attack .

I really like what you do on here David , but when It comes to anyone bagging or attacking either hey hey or seasoned performers as they do on here on a regular basis that’s when It gets personal .

And In this case I thought you were joining the club when It comes to bagging Hey Hey

  9. Well it’s not funny , Its another attempt at a attack on Hey Hey at the expense of that show and yes I’m a proud hey hey nutter , could have made another april fools joke , but nooooo you had to dance on the grave of hey hey once again .

It’s funny how you haters seem to think us nutters always get on our high horse about the show , but then at the same time If there was a drinking game as to how many times people bagged Hey hey on here then I would be plastered within seconds so to speak .

I wait for the day where theres a page where critics are not so hung up on bagging shows that seem to be “low brow ” for there liking .

You T.V snobs can have your one sided fun

    back to boycotting .

  10. As a Hey Hey fan I thought it was a very funny April Fools Day joke and took no offence whatsoever. Hey Hey propped up many of Nine’s shows and the fans won’t rest until it is brought back. Will be good to see Daryl and the show nominated for a Logie this year.

  11. Ok.. been out all day, haven’t been exposed to April Fools and only just read the comments. Dang.. oh well.. maybe I can hope for a non human to be nominated one day.

  12. That is awesome! First time for a non human to even get a nomination would it be? Did Agro ever get anything, Ossie or even, Fat Cat or Humphrey ever even get any nominations over the years? I don’t meant the shows the starred on, but the actual characters.

Would love it if Plucka won the gold! I so hope… I’m definitely tossing in a few votes for him if so.
