Misfits replay

One of the best shows from 2010 is getting a replay from Monday night on ABC2.

I don’t often give a lot of attention to replays, but if you didn’t catch Misfits last year then it is replaying from tonight on ABC2.

This UK series was one of the best new shows on television last year (and it was also one SBS Programmer Jane Roscoe put on her “wish list”).

It airs from 10:30pm tonight, but if it’s late for a school night then add it to your PVR.

Kelly (Lauren Socha), Nathan (Robert Sheehan), Curtis (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett), Alisha (Antonia Thomas) and Simon (Iwan Rheon) are five unruly UK teenagers forced to do community service as payback for their crimes.

But when a freak electrical storm hits their town, strange things begin to happen to them that are way out of their control. In fact, they have no idea that they’ve actually turned into superheroes, each with a power, a power they didn’t choose or want – a power which reveals each of their deepest, darkest insecurities.

But while they just want to finish their community service and get through the challenges of everyday teenage life – relationships, friendships, parents and sex – fate has another task in store for them: they must save their town from the evil that has descended upon it. If you think life’s tough for your average superhero, it’s even tougher when you’ve got a curfew…

Subverting the superhero genre, Misfits is a bold, knowing take on how hard it is to be a hero in the modern, cynical world, with a cast of fresh and upcoming acting talent.

  1. What do you reckon, season 2 will air straight after season 1? Replaying the first season is probably a good move for people who missed it the first time around, and then keep them by running the second season directly after.

  2. It’s interesting that SBS wanted this show. I’m guessing they would’ve given it a Monday post-10pm timeslot. Good filler for when Skins isn’t on-air.

  3. Season 3 JB? I don’t think we’ve had Season 2 yet – did I miss it David? I love this show and think it was one of the more creative in recent years.
