Nine dumps Two and a Half Men repeats

It's official. Nine will quit playing Two and a Half Men at 7pm by the end of the week, replaced with The Big Bang Theory.

It’s official.

From Monday April 11th, Nine is no longer playing Two and a Half Men at 7pm.

It will be replaced by repeats of The Big Bang Theory, another Chuck Lorre sitcom.

Nine has already been testing Big Bang in Brisbane for the last few weeks. From Monday it extends the move to other cities.

The sitcom has been recycled in the 7pm slot for years, but this year it has struggled since its return. Charlie Sheen’s meltdown, sacking and subsequent behaviour has compounded the show’s woes, forcing Nine’s hand.

Last night’s 7:30pm episode was the last one completed by the cast. With lawyers at ten paces, there is no word if the show will ever resume production.

But the show is not entirely erased from Nine’s schedule. There are still a few reruns dotted around the place (notably on Mondays and Tuesdays) and it will doubtless be filling up more of GO!’s schedule soon.

In making the change Nine also brings reboots Mike and Molly at 8pm Monday April 18 from the Pilot, meaning $#*! My Dad Says is actually out once more.

Winning!

  1. big bang as a replacement is alright especially for those of us due to work schedules never getting to see the show but the way I see it There are not enough episodes to last them for another year so I see a likelihood of Temptation and Ed Phillips coming back then.

  2. No Offense Dan but do you remember how long ago the Sullivan’s dated back to that 1976 to 1983.It was a story of a middle class Melbourne family and the effects World War 2 had on their lives sure if you are into that kind of thing or never got to see it rerunning the series is not a bad idea but seriously as a 2.5 men replacement it will never catch on so get with the times.
What about showing my two wives again which was a home grown take on 2.5 men nineties style.

  3. Wow – News to me, why dont Nine do a re think and bring back a game show at 7pm? I was thinking along the lines of “Sale of the Century” or of a similar style game show format. And even now would be a good time to bring back Hey Hey it’s Saturday through the week

  4. Why do Nine insist on showing these shows out of order? This week at 7pm (Brisbane) we have season 2, next week is season 1 e11-15, and the week after is the pilot?

I would like to watch this show at same stage (having missed the boat the first time around), but the fact that Nine and GO! seem unable to show the episodes in order seems to be for the too-hard basket

  6. I agree I think TBBT will be overexposed or more so then what it already is.

I know this is a real stretch. But why not play Entertainment Tonight on at 7pm either on 9 or GO! The episode aired the previous night in the US and does have some good clips on upcoming shows and movies. It is played during the day, but I would probably watch it as an alternative to 7pm Project. Just an idea!
