Report: UK reviving Big Brother

The UK's Big Brother is reportedly returning with a four-week Celebrity run in August, followed by a series in September.

The rumours have been around for a while, now a UK newspaper says Channel 5 is bringing Big Brother back to life.

Channel 5 will reportedly sign a five-year deal with Endemol in the next few days according to the Daily Star. As previously rumoured, the show will return with a four-week Celebrity run in August.  It will immediately follow with a regular series in September.

Rumoured celebrities include ex-Harrods boss Mohamed Al-Fayed, The Only Way Is Essex star Amy Childs and The Wanted singer Max George.

Joanna Lumley, Peaches Geldof, Prince Harry’s ex Chelsy Davy are also said to be on the producers’ wishlist along with Home and Away‘s Samara Weaving and boxer Ricky Hatton.

Charlie Sheen will apparently be offered a “big-money” deal.

Renovation work has reportedly already started on the house, which will be similar to those in previous series but with additional improvementss.

As official as it gets. Maybe something for Eleven to put in a late night slot (10:30pm before The Late Late Show would be nice thanks Eleven)

  2. Big Brother was good at the begining when it was new, later it became repetative the same squables and the same crap over and over again i could not stand it. For those who want it back i have this to say be careful what you wish for. You may find that it is not as good as the original. Besides if you are interested in watching a bunch of fame hungry loosers squable and argue all the time whilst performing pointless tasks just to look like its worth watching then you might as well go out in the city and watch brawls late at night its practically the same thing.
I say we need better scripted drama not more crap like BB.

  3. I too hope Channel Ten bring back BB. It’s been too long! I like Tim’s suggestion of Chrissie hosting, she would be great. It would be harder now seeing as their 7pm timeslot is filled, but maybe they could show the daily shows on Eleven at 7pm and air the Evictions / Nominations / Friday Night Live / Uncut shows on Ten.

  4. Great news, I’ve often enjoyed Celeb BBUK more than their standard BB, good to see it back, let the viewing begin…

Now, just bring back BBAU, if they are changing the emphasis of sport on ONE, put it there in HD… 🙂

  5. bring it back to Australia! No reason why ELEVEN shouldn’t be showing it seems though that is exactly what the channel is aimed at. It shows SYTYCD and other reality programming so why not Big Brother?!

  6. I’d love to see this back in Australia. Can’t see it happening anytime soon but Big Brother Uncut was hilarious. The weekday shows weren’t great but the Uncut version and Friday Night Games were always good for a laugh.
