  1. The ABC1 didn’t start their coverage til 7.30 – never got to see the guest arrivals. ABC24 didn’t have coverage at all. Shame that the ABC couldn’t offer HD.

  2. Channel Nine coverage was very poor, they had most of their facts wrong as usual. Lisa’s hat was dreadful and Ita Buttrose must have found that old brown coat in an alley somewhere. The ABC coverage was fabulous, they listed the music and gave commentary on all the important aspects of the ceremony. Sorry karl, no gold logie for you.

  3. I am usually a Nine follower. Usually for big events like these Nine does them best. But I could not stand – at all – Dame Edna. I think it was unsuitable to have them treating it like that, inappropriately trying to make it funny. Although I did not watch Seven, I watched something similar with E! which had British commentary (organised by themselves) and I think Seven made the right choice to therefore broadcast ITV coverage.

Nine was a big let-down and media buyers were expecting 9 to win last night. Looks like there was a big gap.

Also, Karl does not seem to be taking these occasions seriously enough. I could not believe he had rolled up his sleeves and took his suit jacket off – not professional. Lisa’s head attire could have been a lot better too. Tracey could have dressed up more as well.

I would have liked Nine to use more of their EU correspondent, Peter Stefanovic, a lot more – that’s what his job is for! They have used Karl plenty of times with the big events this year, perhaps they should have tried to get someone else to anchor last night to prepare for a day that Karl might leave 9. Renewal.

  4. the Channel 9 coverage was woeful, they had No idea what they were talking about. they obviously had done absolutely No research before the event, and it showed: they didn’t know the names of various buildings, they incorrectly identified the King of Tonga as Mohammed al Faied (how is that even possible they look nothing alike!!!), they incorrectly said Kate was wearing the Spencer Tiara (blind freddy could see that was not the spencer tiara, it’s three times the size of what Kate was wearing), they couldn’t identify the spencers, they tried to link everything back to diana, they made a gaff about the bouquet being placed at the tomb of the unknown solider by all Royal brides (only the Queen Mother did that and her brother was killed in WW1, Queen Elizabeth was going to but forgot and sent it there the day after), this is just a brief list of the litany of gaffs and inaccuracies in the 9 coverage.

7 was better, but still not great, ABC gets the gong by going straight to the BBC who did a wonderful job as usual.

  5. The coverage was great, right up until 8:30 when I switched over to W for ‘The Pillars of the Earth’ final, I’m sure we’ll be seeing loads of the wedding on FTA and pay for the weeks to come.

  6. I watched a little bit of 9, heard a little of dame edna but I prefered the professional and knowledgeable commentary from the english people who actually knew what they were talking about on 7. I had one tv on 7 and another on ABC, they were both pretty good. You are never going to get aussies with enough knowledge of the english royals as is needed on an occasion such as this.

  7. From 7pm onwards Seven’s coverage was superior to the others because they had ITV’s feed which i think was the smartest thing to do. None of the other networks had this so it was kind of unique. The commentators knew what they were talking about and well it was just so good for a change. It was a fantastic event all round. Her dress was just amazing. Fantastic coverage Seven.

Can’t say the same for Nine. I flicked over a few times just to see what they were up to and Karl and Dame Edna were terrible. I tried to watch ACA from 6:30pm as being in regional NSW we had Seven news on and well don’t get me started on Tracy and Ita. I tried but that network has just got plain sad. I just kept with Seven for most of it.

PIP (Picture in Picture) came in handy tonight too with the footy on 7mate. Too bad my Swannies lost 🙁

  8. Foxtel opened up Sky News HD for those without a HD subscription, which was good.

The visual quality was much better than GEM or anything else, and the pundits were reasonable.

  9. Watched mainly Seven’s coverage and all I can say is that it was brilliant!!!! Just a live feed of ITV with British commentary for a change and the ABC did a good job too with the BBC feed and no presenters. Nine’s coverage was poor as we had Dame Edna, Lisa and Karl.
