2011 Upfronts: The CW

Sarah Michelle Gellar will return to television in a new series for The CW network in Ringer.

Sarah Michelle Gellar will return to television in a new series for The CW network in Ringer.

Gellar will play a woman who adopts her twin sister’s identity looking to escape being victimised because she witnesses a murder, only to learn her sister has dangerous secrets of her own (what was wrong with “Dead Ringer?”).

The CW also announced further drama and reality titles for the 2011-12 fall season.

Kevin Williamson will produce The Secret Circle, based on a book series by The Vampire Diaries author, L.J. Smith. In the new show, an orphaned teenager moves to a strange town in Washington where many of her contemporaries turn out to be witches –- and so does she.

Hart of Dixie is about a young doctor from New York who moves to Alabama and finds herself thrown into a world of social backbiting of the southern variety.

New reality series H8R sees celebrities get involved with non-fans (people who despise them in fact) and try to win them over. Remodeled sees modeling executive Paul Fisher looking to unite small modeling agencies to change the industry. The Frame is a hybrid reality-game show which pits couples in a competition to act out their lives in a single television frame, which is a stripped down rendering of their own living space.

  1. Great that Ten has the rights to Ringer. That said, I never watch any CW shows on FTA so none of this bothers me. Not very interested in Secret Circle or Hart of Dixie even though I loved Rachel Bilson on the OC. I’m glad Supernatural has gotten a seventh season though, quite remarkable they’ve kept the series fresh for this long.

  2. ‘The other 2 new CW dramas, Heart of Dixie and Secret Circle will go to Nine.’
    Nooooo!

Bet you a million TV credits LOL that they will be dumped to GO! and never shown on Nine’s main channel.

  3. Ringer should appear on Ten as the main producer is CBS Television Studios in association with Warner Bros and ABC Studios. So with CBS the main stuido Ten will pick it up.

The other 2 new CW dramas, Heart of Dixie and Secret Circle will go to Nine.

  4. Looking forward to c ing Sarah Michelle Geller again on Tv. I hope this show gets picked up by Network Ten and put on 11. I think it would suit their demographic. The rest is just borring.

  5. I didn’t even know SMG was returning to TV until a few days ago, guess its too early to tell in Ringer has been picked up locally for fast tracking?

Hart of Dixie sounds a little like Doc Hollywood.

  6. “The Secret Circle” features Australia’s Phoebe Tonkn in her first american tv role. Not sure what this will do if the sequel to “Tomorrow When the War Began” movie doesn’t comence soon?
