‘Dr. Cuddy’ is set to exit US drama House after it was revealed co-star Lisa Edelstein will not return for the eighth season.
Edelstein, whose original contract expired at the end of this season, has decided not to return which will put an abrupt end to the on-again-off-again romance between her character and Hugh Laurie’s Dr. House.
Along with Robert Sean Leonard and Omar Epps, Edelstein had been asked to take a cut from her most recent salary of $175,000 an episode.
In a statement she said, “After much consideration, I am moving onward with a combination of disappointment at leaving behind a character I have loved playing for seven years and excitement of the new opportunities in acting and producing that lie ahead.”
Her departure will leave Olivia Wilde as the only regular female cast member.
Season 7 resumes on TEN next Monday night.

Her Original contract was for 7 years???
The cast of House have been shuffled around so many times over the years, and top-billed characters have gotten little to no screen time per episode (including Olivia Wilde who was added to the opening titles this year, then had about 17 episodes off!), so no wonder they are willing to take pay cuts when they know the writers will have no issue writing them out if they don’t like it.
Can’t believe they’re pushing pay cuts on regular cast members when it is almost certainly the last season. She was an important part of the dynamic of the show, but maybe it might create an opening to bring back Jennifer Morrison…but that is probably wishful thinking on my behalf.
Omar should not have accepted the pay cut. They never would have let him go and upset the African American audience.
Olivia Wilde’s cold robotic performance was suited to the environment of Tron: Legacy’s Grid, but in House it doesn’t work.
I agree that Lisa Edelstein is an essential cast member that helps hold the show together. Season 8 should be the last.

House, you know I love you but it will be hard to stomach your ridiculous antics without the grace and poise of Dr. Lisa Cuddy.
Might I suggest that as a solution to the rapidly decreasing female cast, they introduce a (proper) female love interest for Thirteen.

Oh well looks like this season being the last is assured. I can’t believe for such a hit show some of those actors weren’t even getting 200k for each episode. Considering it’s a hour (40 minutes) drama, i don’t blame her for walking away.
This sucks she is so hot and is a good actress and i enjoyed the tention between her character Cuddy and House, i found it histericall when house would always disobay Cuddy’s orders. She will be missed, i also predict that the show will finish soon i think it has had a good run.
what a shame it won’t be the same without her
