LifeStyle Food serves up Planet Cake

Cake Queen Paris Cutler will front a new eight-part series for the LifeStyle FOOD channel.

LifeStyle FOOD Channel has formally announced is newest food series, Planet Cake, will be produced by Freehand Productions.

The eight-part half-hour observational documentary series, first revealed by TV Tonight in March, follows the daily operations of Planet Cake, a cake businesses owned by Paris Cutler.

The channel says Cutler is known to her team of designers and decorators as The Cake Queen. “Paris is a stickler for perfection and her attention to detail leaves no fondant flower unfinished,” it said in a statement.

Cutler has previously designed the wedding cake for Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban and Celine Dion’s 40th birthday cake.

“Each week is a race against time to design, create and deliver the most extraordinary couture masterpieces at Planet Cake. From the outrageous and the humorous to the heart-wrenching, cakes are constructed for every imaginable occasion. Bridezillas, vengeful colleagues, grieving mothers and wronged wives have all placed orders at the Planet Cake counter,” says LifeStyle FOOD.

Nicole Sheffield from XYZnetworks said, “LifeStyle FOOD has been the leader in food TV in this country since 2004. Over the last 12 months cake programs have become incredibly popular and we’re very excited by the development of this food reality genre. We really wanted an Australian cake series and were thrilled when Paris Cutler said yes to letting our cameras into her world.

“Paris and her team create some truly breathtaking and gravity defying cakes and there’s a story behind every one of them. Mixing their artistic talent with a measure of stress is a sure recipe for compulsive TV!”

“This is going to be a wonderful series,” said Peter Abbott from Freehand. “We’re thrilled to be working with Paris and her team of obsessive, passionate and highly sought after cake makers for this project and continuing our collaboration with LifeStyle FOOD.”

It will premiere  later this year.
