Report: Ashton Kutcher for Two and a Half Men

No Hugh Grant but now Ashton Kutcher? A deal is said to be all but signed.

The latest word on replacing Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men puts Ashton Kutcher into the spotlight.

The Hollywood Reporter says Kutcher is putting the final touches on a deal but his reps declined to comment on the situation.

While the exact dollar figure he will be paid is not known, the deal is said to be all but signed.

Sources say creator Chuck Lorre has crafted a storyline to introduce Kutcher in a way that satisfies the network and studio. “It’s really funny,” says one source. “People are going to love it.”

“Chuck’s really happy,” another source says.

On his hugely-followed Twitter account, Kutcher said: “I’m starting to become convinced that people put my name in articles just to improve their SEO or hoping I’ll tweet it.”

The talk of Kutcher follows Hugh Grant passing on the opportunity to join the show.

  1. A wise choice. He is young and handsome my only other question is what will happen to the Character of Jake Harper when he gets too old to be the half men to the New Charlie and Alan. Will they recast him or keep the existing person on the show. What I would like to see is Rose come back but this time around be Jakes Stalker.

  2. Well, it’s probably poetic justice in a way. Charlie “replaced” Michael J. Fox on Spin City (admittedly under better circumstances), so it is fitting Charlie is replaced on 2.5Men eh?

lol, 2.5 Men has been running just a *titch* longer than that… And is has something of a massive following. Temptation was a remake of a bad quiz show and rightly lasted about 2.5 minutes.

They could have done better than Ashton, but then it’s a bit irrational to write the guy off before we see him. RThen again, it’s also irrational to complain about a show that clearly resonates well with the majority.

  4. Please let the show die in peace.I remember when Nine dumped Temptation for this 2.5 men back in 2009 It was a dark day indeed for fans of the quiz As someone who watched Sale of the Century as a kid I found it even more insulting they drop an intelligent game show for something bogan like.

  5. Ashton Kutcher would be brilliant! He’s hilarious…I think he’d be great with Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones!

Like Charlie Sheen, he’s a highly polarising figure. You either love him or hate him…

  6. Tom Cruise would be a good replacement

Anyway i’m more looking forward to finding out who will replace steve carrell for the office. Hoping it’ll be jim carrey

  7. Just a thought, many here and on other blogs have spent a great deal of time saying something along the lines of Sheen being one of the least talented members of the coast, or that Cryer and others are far funnier than Sheen anyway, yet when it comes to stories of a change, the comments invariably go along the lines of “noone will watch it anyway”.

I would imagine that despite what myself and many other people think of the show (less than not much), it will at least continue to rate through the roof, if for no other reason than seeing the possible train wreck that may ensue if Kutcher or anyone else comes onboard.

  8. Hugh Grant would have been Much better in terms of a Charlie Sheen replacement, but Kutcher will put a new twist on the show & storyline.. Interesting…

  9. “..people put my name in articles just to improve their SEO or hoping I’ll tweet it.”

Poor fellow needs to attend some classes to address his low self-esteem.
