Former actor Jon Blake, whose career was cut short after a tragic road accident in the 1980s and left him with permanent brain damage, has died.

Blake’s accident took place during filming of The Lighthorsemen when the handsome, rising star was set for stardom.

He had previously featured in television dramas including The Restless Years and the ANZACS miniseries.

In the 25 years that followed his family fought court cases for suitable care for him for years, a plight that was recently featured by Angela Bishop in a moving story on 6:30 with George Negus.

It was only recently the former actor finally won some better quality of life thanks to the devotion of his son, Dustin.

He finally saw his movie on the big screen before he died.
