Girl’s night at the ASTRA Awards

Three women will host the 2011 Astra Awards - Tara Moss, Lee Furlong and Helen Dalley.

The ASTRA Awards has gone against type to give share the hosting job for the 2011 awards to three women: Helen Dalley, Tara Moss and Lee Furlong.
While females have co-hosted the event before, have a triple act is a first. Earlier reports that Rove McManus was to host were off the mark, but he will be one of the Presenters.
ASTRA CEO Petra Buchanan says, “These three women offer a great reflection of the breadth of content available on subscription television, from documentary programming such as Tough Nuts with Tara Moss, to the comprehensive and objective news coverage provided by Helen Dalley and the team at SKY News, to sports coverage and sports based content and shows like Football Superstar and the upcoming Cricket Superstar presented by Lee Furlong. We are delighted to have three such strong and talented women take the helm of the 9th Annual ASTRA Awards.”
Helen Dalley is one of Australia’s most experienced and highly respected journalists. Throughout her 20 year media career, Helen has interviewed Prime Ministers, chief executives, artists and movie stars and in 1999 was awarded the coveted Walkley Award for Excellence in Broadcast Journalism. Helen currently hosts Sunday Agenda, Sunday Business and Business View on SKY NEWS and SKY NEWS Business Channels.

Tara Moss is a bestselling crime author who has been published in 17 countries and 11 languages. Tara hosts the true crime documentary series Tough Nuts – Australia’s Hardest Criminals on the Crime & Investigation Network, and as ‘Ambassador of Crime’ for 13th STREET, hosts Tara Moss in Conversation where she interviews fellow bestselling crime authors from around the world, giving an intimate look at what makes successful thriller writers tick.
Lee Furlong is one of STV’s rising stars. One of the leading female sports presenters in the country, Lee, has been a key member of the FOX SPORTS News team since its launch in 2006. She has also taken on several hosting roles for FOX SPORTS including the Sports Australia Hall of Fame Awards. She is also a favourite with television audiences for her role as host of FOX8 soccer based reality show Football Superstar.

The awards take place Thursday 21st July at Sydney Theatre, Walsh Bay.
