If it’s Sunday it must be Seven

Seven’s combo of Seven News, Dancing with the Stars and Downton Abbey proved too much for the competition once again, delivering the network a huge Sunday share.

Seven News topped the night on 1.71m viewers, ahead of Nine News on 1.58m and TEN Evening News on 425,000.

At 6:30pm Dancing with the Stars pulled 1.51m, over Merlin (944,000), In Their Footsteps (937,000), Dance Academy / ABC News (123,000 / 662,000), and World News Australia (203,000).

But MasterChef Australia nabbed a higher average at 7:30pm of 1.6m with 60 Minutes (1.04m), The Dolphins Of Shark Bay (556,000) and Who Do You Think You Are? (305,000).

Downton Abbey‘s (1.68m) was unbeatable, more than double the averages for The Mentalist (792,000), Hawaii Five-O (731,000), Inspector George Gently (658,000) and Dateline (136,000).

A Castle repeat also won at 9:30pm with 682,000 viewers.

The Big Bang Theory was the top show on multichannels with 374,000 on GO!

Seven won Sunday.

  1. The fact that Downton Abbey has, pretty much, kept most of its’ viewers speaks volumes about the show.

It was a risk for Channel 7 – they took it, gave it a chance and man, has it paid off or what? 😉

It could have easily dropped massively in its’ ratings.

In Their Footsteps is still doing okay. It’s a shame that it doesn’t get higher ratings, as it’s a wonderful show to watch. But then, so is Merlin. Is why I record one, watch the other!

What are the figures for recording of the two, David? They started putting those out didn’t they?

    1. Jezza: Looking like Great Migrations will replace DA. Maybe X Factor auditions for DWTS.
Kaylen: Timeshifted figures are delivered a week later. The biggest lifts have usually been for dramas after 9:30pm.
