Ready, Steady, Cook fans already miss Peter Everett

Some TEN viewers got a bit of a shock yesterday when new episodes of Ready, Steady, Cook aired, but without host Peter Everett.

Some TEN viewers got a bit of a shock yesterday when fresh episodes of Ready, Steady, Cook with new host Colin Lane hit the screens.

Maybe they hadn’t heard he was replacing Peter Everett.

A wave of comments hit TV Tonight yesterday afternoon, almost all of which were upset that Everett would no longer be appearing on the popular show.

Many of them let fly at TEN:

Liz: Sorry to see you go Pete, loved the show because you were in it. Not the same without you, always looked forward to your happy, genuine self. Channel 10… not happy!

Penny: Very shocked that Peter would not be hosting anymore, my 14 month old daughter loved ready steady cook, once it came on today and she didn’t see Peter on the screen she was not interested anymore and turned away. Peter was the show, and its boring now!

Lynette: I love Peter & the show but without Peter I am not interested in watching anymore, he made the show. So sad. Good luck Peter for your future.

Beatrice Timmis: i love ready steady cook but peter everett was the show i watched it every day i loved it from the moment it started till it finished sorry but i will not watch it any more even for the reciepes i will continue to buy the book why do you do things like that i dont know

Lorraine Usher: Cannot believe that channel 10 has parted ways with Peter Everett, lost a viewer with this household….

Sacha Haddad: OMG he will bemissed i definetly won’t be watching the show anymore. He was so easy going and funny.

Kay Warrop: After watching the first edition of Ready Steady Cook with new hoast I was very dissapointed as Peter Everett really made the show so now you have not only lost a veiwer for this show but for other shows as well. Hope he comes back with another channel.

Belinda Smith: Bring back Pete! The show sucks without him.

Sharon n: Bring back Peter Everett. I like Colin lane but the show is not the same not sure if I will continue to watch.

Liz Whitton: I for one will no longer watch RSC. The new host has no personality what a dead pan
Bring Back Peter Everett he was the life of that show. Channel ten you are gone gone gone.

Hilary Bell: Oh, no, only 20 minutes into the new show and Colin Lane looks like a duck out of water. He spends more time looking at the camera than at what is being cooked. Please bring back Peter Everett – a delightful man who drove the chefs crazy on occasions but had a delightful personality with lots of hugs (and self deprecation so often) but he was really interested in what was going on and added so much fun to the show.

But some were glad to see him replaced with Lane:

Sharon: My husband and I both agree that peter Everett was so inappropriate with contestants and chefs alike, we are glad he is gone and hope that the series keeps going with the new host as we do like the show.

  1. I’m an old watcher of RSC. I didn’t like the tall, lanky guy (who’s name I never knew) until Peter Everett took over. At least the other guy could cook and didn’t drop dishes all over the floor so the poor chef would have to start again. I stopped watching when he started. I do like Colin Lane and I hope he’s going to pan out, I’ll be watching again when I have time.

  2. @ s5000…He was removed…he did not go of his own accord.!!
@ Peter Young ….I am very up to date of both local..national and international issues….and totally engaged with my local community….
But due to health issues…computers…reading and TV are also a big part of my life…..and I liked Pete….and find Colin somewhat stiff and the reverse of Pete…kind of stand offish….but trying to clone Peter’s style…..
And I resent your inference that I am ‘dumbed down’ because I did like to watch this show…..
Think before you put everyone in the same box….we are all different and all lead different lives….and viva la difference….it would be a sad old world if we were all the same!

  3. I hope the bright spark at channel 10 that decided to replace Peter Everett has also been replaced for not realising that Peter Everett was the show.
Bring Peter back the new format has very little entertainment value.
Come on Channel admit you mistake.

  4. What a shame Peter is gone he made the show, & the guess feel comfortable . Oh well l give it 3mths before its axed l won’t be watching anymore it’s so boring l just want to sleep!

  5. I only watched ready steady cook because of Peter Everett, “he was the show” you’ve lost me channel 10, cooking shows are a dime a dozen and without Peter Everett, ready steady cook becomes one of the dime a dozen.

  6. I was very disappointed to see that Peter Everett has been replaced. Everything positive said about him above was so true….I don’t usually watch cooking shows, but Peter was such fun, with a lovely nature. The show now is flat & boring.

  7. Why are people being so snarky? I personally don’t watch RST but good luck to those that do. They prefer Peter as host and wanted to comment. There is no need to be rude and offensive.

  8. I liked Pete he was a bit silly but the audience seemed love him. They brought in gifts for him as well.

Colin was ok, but it does look hard to chat to people whilst they cook.

RSC keeps me company and I enjoy watching it.

  9. i dont know why some are making it seem only a loser would complain about a new host, if you watch a show everyday and you don’t like the new host you have every right to complain. spending a few seconds to post a comment on a website doesn’t make you obsessed.

  10. DF: Yep, when I see a flood of comments hit an old, buried story, as you say, my radar goes up. Either it’s a concerted fan campaign being organised from Facebook, or it’s a genuine reaction from angry viewers who have turned to the internet. I think many people know TVT stories configure highly in Google so it brings in a lot of new comment when the audience wants to vent. I often find they are new visitors to the site too, and the fact they give their full name usually suggests they are not regular web users. So to see a lot of women making comments just minutes apart from Colin Lane’s debut signalled to me there was a signficant reaction, hence the story. It’s a bit of detective work and piecing together a jigsaw, but I have been running the site long enough to detect an abnormal spike of this kind along with what it means.

  11. People seem to forget Peter was the replacement for the tall lanky chef that was the first host. Give Col a go, and also do you all having nothing better to do than complain about a tv host being replaced? I wish I had that much to worry about!

  12. I don’t know what it was about Everett, as he knew nothing about cooking and had some odd behavioural traits, but he did have an endearing personality and made the show stand out from all the other cooking shows on the screens these days.

  13. can’t believe peter everett is not on the show anymore, don’t think i will watch it anymore. he was so funny and made the show, even the look on the faces of the chef’s show that they didn’t seem happy either.

  14. Amazing that a long buried article about a change of host on Ready Steady Cook should attract a barrage of comments. Methinks the Peter Everett fan club are making a directed attack.

  15. In response to Colin Lane as the new RSC host.

He is so much better than Peter Everett, because RSC needed a fresh new look and Colin makes it even more funnier than it originally was. At least he is not hugging and kissing the chefs and contestants inappropriately. Lets keep going RSC, ur doing great.

  16. Cooking shows are a dime a dozen and it’s Peter Everett that made the show stand apart from the others. Ready Steady Cook now feels soulless. If people don’t like him change the channel.

  17. Shows how empty some people’s lives must be to get so wound up by such an issue. These would be the same people who wouldn’t know the first thing about what their government was doing or engage with their local community issues. Get some perspective people and get a life!
