Ready, Steady, Cook fans already miss Peter Everett

Some TEN viewers got a bit of a shock yesterday when new episodes of Ready, Steady, Cook aired, but without host Peter Everett.

Some TEN viewers got a bit of a shock yesterday when fresh episodes of Ready, Steady, Cook with new host Colin Lane hit the screens.

Maybe they hadn’t heard he was replacing Peter Everett.

A wave of comments hit TV Tonight yesterday afternoon, almost all of which were upset that Everett would no longer be appearing on the popular show.

Many of them let fly at TEN:

Liz: Sorry to see you go Pete, loved the show because you were in it. Not the same without you, always looked forward to your happy, genuine self. Channel 10… not happy!

Penny: Very shocked that Peter would not be hosting anymore, my 14 month old daughter loved ready steady cook, once it came on today and she didn’t see Peter on the screen she was not interested anymore and turned away. Peter was the show, and its boring now!

Lynette: I love Peter & the show but without Peter I am not interested in watching anymore, he made the show. So sad. Good luck Peter for your future.

Beatrice Timmis: i love ready steady cook but peter everett was the show i watched it every day i loved it from the moment it started till it finished sorry but i will not watch it any more even for the reciepes i will continue to buy the book why do you do things like that i dont know

Lorraine Usher: Cannot believe that channel 10 has parted ways with Peter Everett, lost a viewer with this household….

Sacha Haddad: OMG he will bemissed i definetly won’t be watching the show anymore. He was so easy going and funny.

Kay Warrop: After watching the first edition of Ready Steady Cook with new hoast I was very dissapointed as Peter Everett really made the show so now you have not only lost a veiwer for this show but for other shows as well. Hope he comes back with another channel.

Belinda Smith: Bring back Pete! The show sucks without him.

Sharon n: Bring back Peter Everett. I like Colin lane but the show is not the same not sure if I will continue to watch.

Liz Whitton: I for one will no longer watch RSC. The new host has no personality what a dead pan
Bring Back Peter Everett he was the life of that show. Channel ten you are gone gone gone.

Hilary Bell: Oh, no, only 20 minutes into the new show and Colin Lane looks like a duck out of water. He spends more time looking at the camera than at what is being cooked. Please bring back Peter Everett – a delightful man who drove the chefs crazy on occasions but had a delightful personality with lots of hugs (and self deprecation so often) but he was really interested in what was going on and added so much fun to the show.

But some were glad to see him replaced with Lane:

Sharon: My husband and I both agree that peter Everett was so inappropriate with contestants and chefs alike, we are glad he is gone and hope that the series keeps going with the new host as we do like the show.

  1. I read the executives wanted a fresh face, this new guy is a total dud, hes about as exciting as watcing grass grow. I liked the show with Peter, at least he made you smile or laugh. He is much more a draw then this new guy. Poor move…

  2. Only just turned the Tv over to ready steady cook to see that Pete has gone. I only get to see this show now and then due to work but when I can I am always laughing due to Pete!!! I’m not a fan of the new show and wont be watching. Saddly the host and show has not got that warm, fun, friendly feel anymore. I loved Pete because you could tell that he was truly being himself. Wishing Pete all the best!!!

  3. What a bore this new host is… I just gave away watching the show after Peter Left. I cannot believe a live wire like Peter Everett was let go… I watched the new guy then stopped watching the show and today I went back in and guess what … he is still boring. Won’t ever go back, even the chefs look more like they are in charge… Goodbye to your rotten crappy show…

  4. I have been trying to watch the show and give the new host a chance but I am very sorry its a lost cause. I will no longer be watching. Peter was a delight to watch and seemed genuine.

  5. Channel 10 you have made a foolish and misguided decision in letting Peter go. He WAS Ready Steady Cook. Warm, funny, open. Peter, you used to brighten up my day and I hope another channel snaps you up for a similar cooking show. I’ve gone form watching every day to not at all. I thought you were on holiday and I couldn’t believe it when I heard you weren’t coming back. Colin, nothing against you personally but you’re just not Peter!

  6. Hi
I miss you Pete. Was hoping youv’e just gone on a short holiday. Your’e warmth and , sense of humour is what made the show, and always kept me interested. Now it’s too boring to watch….:(

  8. I am not happy that Peter is gone. I don’t even bother to watch it most times because it is not the same with the new compare. I miss you Peter. I hope he will come back. I would watch the programme regularly if Peter was back.

  9. I have never been so upset to see Peter gone from the Ready Steady Cook.
He was funny, cute and I believe made everyone feel at home…He was the show. Why on earth Channel 10 would you part ways with a Man that made the show….new chap is boring, not his fault, but he is not Peter…I read someone saying he was touchy feeling, so what? and he was an absolute sweetie and he adored everyone too…Shame Shame, as I cannot watch the show any more as it is just not the same, and I so loved some of the chefs that were regulars. Gilly

  10. Im very disapointed in channel 10 for sacking peter , he was a good bloke, very entertaining and funny. peter was one reason i watched ready steady cook . its not the same with out him , i dont watch it now as i used to do.i wish you all the best peter in what ever you choose to do. shame on you channel ten!!!

  11. Sorry folks, but I will now resume watching Ready Steady Cook. Peter Everett was just so annoying, and if I was one of the chefs, I doubt I would like his hanging all over them, getting in the way as they tried to finalise their dishes. I did not find him funny at all. It was all too “touchy feely” for me. Glad Colin is aboard and given some weeks to settle in, he will look more at home on set.

  12. I was away for almost 7 months and when I returned recently I tuned in to my usual favourite afternoon show Ready Steak Cook. I was dismayed to find Peter not hosting the show and thought he was away and would be back. The weeks went by without Peter. Then I went on the website to find out that he was removed. I was disappointed. Peter made the show funny and alive. The show is just different without him. I don’t watch the show anymore. All the best, Peter!

  13. I used to love this show. never missed while peter was host. If I went out I would tape tape the show because I loved it so much. Have changed channels now and no longer watch rsc. not the same without pete..
Best of luck pete in your new direction and please come back to rsc..

  14. OMG, Where’s Pete…. I originally started watching the show because we are big fans of Peters’ (Changing Rooms)
I always envied the staff, as going to work with someone like Peter Everett, would be a daily highlight :((

  15. The show is not the same. It has lost its pizazz and essence. Peter Everett was the foundation of the Ready, Steady, Cook. I can’t believe he’s gone. His warmth, honesty, cheekiness and charm were staples of the show. I miss Peter Everett. The Show is boring and dull. Colin is a nice guy, yet he is out of his league in RSC. Peter has big shoes to fill – bring him back. He made us laugh. He made us cry. And he made us watch. He is irresistible. Won’t be tuning in anymore. His loss is heartfelt amongst my friends as well.
