Some TEN viewers got a bit of a shock yesterday when fresh episodes of Ready, Steady, Cook with new host Colin Lane hit the screens.
Maybe they hadn’t heard he was replacing Peter Everett.
A wave of comments hit TV Tonight yesterday afternoon, almost all of which were upset that Everett would no longer be appearing on the popular show.
Many of them let fly at TEN:
Liz: Sorry to see you go Pete, loved the show because you were in it. Not the same without you, always looked forward to your happy, genuine self. Channel 10… not happy!
Penny: Very shocked that Peter would not be hosting anymore, my 14 month old daughter loved ready steady cook, once it came on today and she didn’t see Peter on the screen she was not interested anymore and turned away. Peter was the show, and its boring now!
Lynette: I love Peter & the show but without Peter I am not interested in watching anymore, he made the show. So sad. Good luck Peter for your future.
Beatrice Timmis: i love ready steady cook but peter everett was the show i watched it every day i loved it from the moment it started till it finished sorry but i will not watch it any more even for the reciepes i will continue to buy the book why do you do things like that i dont know
Lorraine Usher: Cannot believe that channel 10 has parted ways with Peter Everett, lost a viewer with this household….
Sacha Haddad: OMG he will bemissed i definetly won’t be watching the show anymore. He was so easy going and funny.
Kay Warrop: After watching the first edition of Ready Steady Cook with new hoast I was very dissapointed as Peter Everett really made the show so now you have not only lost a veiwer for this show but for other shows as well. Hope he comes back with another channel.
Belinda Smith: Bring back Pete! The show sucks without him.
Sharon n: Bring back Peter Everett. I like Colin lane but the show is not the same not sure if I will continue to watch.
Liz Whitton: I for one will no longer watch RSC. The new host has no personality what a dead pan
Bring Back Peter Everett he was the life of that show. Channel ten you are gone gone gone.
Hilary Bell: Oh, no, only 20 minutes into the new show and Colin Lane looks like a duck out of water. He spends more time looking at the camera than at what is being cooked. Please bring back Peter Everett – a delightful man who drove the chefs crazy on occasions but had a delightful personality with lots of hugs (and self deprecation so often) but he was really interested in what was going on and added so much fun to the show.
But some were glad to see him replaced with Lane:
Sharon: My husband and I both agree that peter Everett was so inappropriate with contestants and chefs alike, we are glad he is gone and hope that the series keeps going with the new host as we do like the show.

Shocked to hear the news. Pete was a breath of fresh air in a format that is getting a bit tired
Peter was the reason for watching this show … now it is just dull!
Its hard as I really noticed in the Celebrity RSC Colin was really struggling.Peter was good at keeping everyone entertained.
Either way Colin isn’t that bad that i don’t want to watch.
Please join my facebook group that has been going for a few months since I found out they were replacing Peter, it’s called Keep Peter Everett on Ready Steady Cook, we love you Peter
@maev don’t get me wrong, Pete was a perfect perfect fit for the show.
Light and could poke a bit of fun, as well as the guest chefs.
But all I’ll add is that I overheard a horse’s mouth jabbering on about wanting to have it’s own show as I ate a cocktail frankfurter many months ago.
I stopped watching this show when Peter Everett started hosting it, he was to much of an idiot in my opinion and practically destroyed the show for me, maybe its now time to give the show another shot
Just cant believe it! Peter Everett was RSC.You can not compare it to any other cooking show it was the best! He was a good, fun guy who was himself and gave the show some life, not just about cooking. What ever he decides his fans will wish him the best.RSC has lost my viewing 🙁
To all the people saying Peter Everett is too touchy feely, if you knew Peter he is like that with everyone on and off screen and doesn’t mean to be flirty of harassing, he is just such a lovely guy. I must add that I think Colin Lane has showed his versatility on The Circle, but I haven’t seen him on RSC yet, but i’m sure he would be a good fit for the show. Good Luck Peter in your next endeavour.
Will miss Peter Everett, can’t comment on the whys and wherefores of his demise on the show as we don’t really know the true story, but sorry to see him go – the thing I didn’t like was that he didn’t even have a chance to say goodbye to us. Channel 10, that’s just plain bad manners!
Peter Everett might be a good choice to sell the Carbon Tax, or plain cigarette packaging.
Re the ‘tall person’…first presenter….
The show debuted in 2005, where it was hosted by former chef Nick Stratford
Why did Pete go?? I love him, he would crack me up so much.. I wish you all the best Pete, i hope i’ll see you again, Soon!
Glad to see the back of the idiot.
“Anyone who even watches this show should be more upset with their own lives than with the host.”
I really enjoyed that one.
I hope he comes back on, because he brings lots of humour and occasional jokes to the show!
Sorry to say but I for am think that Peter should have been replaced long ago. He was way to touchy feely with contestants and Chefs alike and really spoilt my viewing of the show. The only left to make the show perfect is to stop the pathetic Oooooing and Ahhhing at every food item that comes out of the bag!
I know it’s early days but Colin Lane certainly doesn’t have what it takes as the host of RSC. He is like a cardboard cutout trying to pick up where Peter Everett left off. My enjoyment in watching the show no longer exists without the comedy and guffs that Peter brought to the show.
I can’t believe Channel Ten, Ready Steady Cook is a fantastic show the chefs and Peter Everett made the show this Colin dude is so ultra boring he has know character in him he is a radio voice and thats about it, boring boring boring Colin
So very sad to see that Pete has left RSC. My Mum & I used to love watching & enjoyed Pete’s funny & cheeky personality. We probably won’t be watching anymore. All the best Pete, you’ll be missed by many!

More angry Everett fans blogging on that old post after today’s episode. TEN has some ground to make up here.
Thought I had heard about the axing of Peter everett…mentioned it to few people who kept on saying you must have got it wrong..then yesterday a very stilted episode that clearly rattled the chefs and bewildered the contestants…however today it was excellent as the guests worked the show well…..Peter Everett was hilarious, however of late the inuendos became a bit convoluted….I think Lane will be respected by the Chefs and the audience may change and that is not a bad thing….I think the timing has been good…as long as you keep the IKEA Kitchen..that is the best part!
Bring back Peter Everett !!!!!
I only watched ready steady cook because of Peter Everett,
“he was the show”
How could Channel 10 get it so wrong?
Colin Lane at best is irritating.
Good luck Pete – when you left so did the show!
Peter Everett *was* Ready Steady Cook! He made the show so much fun!!
RSC has been Logie-nominated for the Most Popular Lifestyle Program consecutively for 3 years now (it got my vote for the first two years because of Peter’s enthusiasm and humour).
