Seven makes a Dinner Date with Manu

Seven has announced a new dating series, Dinner Date, to be hosted by French chef Manu Fieldel.

Seven has announced a new dating series, Dinner Date, to be hosted by French chef Manu Fieldel (My Kitchen Rules, Dancing With The Stars, Ready Steady Cook).

The weekly series will ask a single guy or girl to peruse five dinner menus, choose the three most appealing menus and embark on three blind dates with the successful chefs in their own home.

The series appears to be based on the ITV format of the same name.

“I can’t think of a better way to get to know someone than over dinner,” says Fieldel.

“Either way, they’ll enjoy some wonderful food and have a lot of fun.

“And you just never know where you can find love these days.”

No word on an airdate yet or whether the show will feature both gay and straight couples.

  1. I know there’s a Greek version that is very popular in Greece and has been shown on Antenna Pacific. Are there any other overseas versions?

  2. This show sounds ridiculous, but if there’s an audience for tripe like Beauty and the Geek and the Bachelor, this will probably have an audience as well.

  3. I’m a big channel 7 fan but when I read about it this morning, I don’t have high hopes of it lasting mor than a couple of weeks. I’ll still give it ago but it will sink without trace quickly

  4. Cooking is becoming such a hackneyed TV idea. For this show in particular, it sounds like they just tacked it on hoping it would automatically make the show popular. Of course, it’s worked in the past for Seven so you can hardly blame them.

  5. I love Manu. I really do. Even though i can’t understand a word he says. But this sounds terrible and Seven are gonna kill his career fast. I already like him less for doing DWTS.

  6. Sounds like a perfect match with Four Weddings, Beauty and the Geek. Have all three back to back and you will probably have a demographic dream come true.

However, not my cup of tea.

  7. ah, love a good cheap aussie dating show.

Chains of Love, Taken Out, Shopping for Love, Perfect Match, Blind Date…

    Who remembers some others?
