Spoiler: Ooops. Matt Preston spoils MasterChef immunity challenge

Spoiler: Matt Preston has apparently spoiled (and deleted) the outcome of a MasterChef Immunity challenge on his Facebook page.

Spoiler: Matt Preston has apparently spoiled the outcome of a MasterChef Immunity challenge on his Facebook page.

On the page he says: “So Hayden now has two Immunity pins. Do you think he should be able to give one away? He’s a nice guy, but maybe not that nice hey? :)”

Followers of his site have have responded with shock:

“Isn’t this tonight?”
“Awkward.. .we haven’t seen this episode yet haha”
“Big spoiler. Thanks Matt :P”
“Oh oh. Spoiler alert.”
“Gee thanks for ruining tonights episode Matt
“Cool – I now get to watch Mythbusters tonight instead!!!”
“Boo, thanks for that Matt!”
“I was thinking, gee, I’m sure I watched last night, what did I miss??!! LOL.. Thanks for the spoiler ;-)”

The episode in question airs tomorrow night* on TEN. For the record, Hayden wins.

UPDATED: The page in question is now deleted. But Preston has updated: “Good to see so many people are following my posts so closely…and apologies for the confusion. Hayden has immunity this week, if he wins the cook-off he’ll be making history with two immunity pins. But will he? You had better be watching MasterChef this week to find out!”

* corrected.

  1. I am delighted that Matt Preston has apologised for the confusion he caused. I’m watching Masterchef less and less these days, am totally disallusioned with the show and don’t like being manipulated as a sucker viewer.
Last night,George again proved to be a total bitch with his comments to Hayden, why 4 points, not 5? He’s so mean spirited and would be so unable to take any criticism levelled at him without a total hissy fit. Hayden is a sweetie and I hope he does win.

Sorry David, you said “For the record, Hayden wins”. That was your statement, not Matt Preston’s – you were making it sound like you had inside knowledge.

  3. Well I’m glad…I hadn’t got round to watching the ep yet and I’d seen this story so watched it thinking Hayden had won. What a lovely surprise to see that he had not! Felt very sorry for the pastry chef being set up that way. Wonder if this will deter other chefs in future from accepting appearances on the show? He came very close to losing the battle.

  4. There’s only one thing worse than a “spoiler” (clarification: before it’s gone to air) and that is actually lying in said “spoiler”. So it turns out Matt’s “spoiler” was a PR ploy to get people talking/watching tonight? I suppose it worked, but stunts like that damage any goodwill the show has… which I think is showing signs of waning this year so they needn’t be too cocky.

    And spam at 8.52am??

  5. the people who dont like the show should stop watching

and the people who think there are conspiracy theories should go to the doctor. it is called paranoid delusion.

  6. This season of Masterchef is finished as far as I’m concerned. I can’t watch it especially with Matt and the allegations surrounding him: everytime he says something or the show focuses on him I think about those allegations (re: mobile phone etc) and it’s aggravating!!

  7. Marion Did use her pin last year after stuffing up the fish for a group challenge. The Judges even said do you want to see how you would go saying they would not boot her out but she said she didn’t come there to gamble.
