The Today show beat Sunrise last week, its first weekly win in seven years, not including the Winter Olympics.
Nine’s show with Karl Stefanovic & Lisa Wilkinson averaged 347,000 over Seven’s 343,000 with David Koch and Melissa Doyle (includes weekend editions). In the preceding week, Sunrise won by just 2,000 viewers.
Today won Melbourne and Sydney, where it is regularly the preferred choice. But Sunrise was first in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth -in the west, Seven wins the brekkie battle by a country mile.
The morale boost for Nine follows Karl Stefanovic taking the Gold Logie following a campaign push by Nine, which might ignite some debate about seeing the trophy translate to ratings, and potentially more advertising dollars.

@ryan, Nine’s news service in Perth is not awful, it is much more informative than the Nine bulletins on the east coast and in fact I know of many people who have changed from 7 to 9 in recent years here because they feel 7 are the ones losing the plot and 9 have found direction. Not reflected in ratings yet, but give it a lot of time, and if Rick and Sue leave, watch out TVW…
@ Tina Sullivan, Adam Boland might be suing the network, but he still works for them. He was in London working on their Royal Wedding broadcast, and he was suing them then as well.
Sam, I think you’ll find Adam Boland is suing the network. Hardly part of the team.
