Buoyed by the success of its current season, Nine is putting out the call for new contestants for the next season of The Block.

Buoyed by the success of its current season, Nine is putting out the call for new contestants for the next season of The Block.

To be filmed once again in Melbourne, Nine has purchased 4 run-down properties in Dorcas Street, South Melbourne (pictured).

You must be aged between 20-60 to apply.

Think you have what it takes to out-design, out-renovate, out-decorate and become the winner of The Block? Are you the next Jenna and Josh or John and Neisha? Casting for the next season of Australia’s favourite renovation-reality series has commenced.

If you have a passion for renovation and think you know what property buyers want, grab your partner and apply to be part of Australian television’s highest rating series ever.

Over the first three monster seasons, 12 properties were sold on The Block and three winning couples walked away with over $700,000 in prizemoney. In 2010 the show gave away more than $500,000 to four couples. Now in its fourth season, The Block 2011, promises to deliver the same success.

This year the renovation-reality blockbuster has been screened five nights a week at 7 o’Block in a new format, hosted again by Scott Cam, with challenge master Shelley Craft and judges John McGrath and Neale Whitaker.

Eight couples started out, four were eliminated, and now Australia is watching the four remaining couples who have taken on four very dilapidated houses in Melbourne’s inner-city suburb of Richmond. They’re all vying to make their home the most valuable property when the hammer goes down on auction day.

  1. The block seems to have got away from the original concept .Nobody seems to do any work and are always swanning around slagging each other off . Theres no way you can fit out a full bathroom from stud walls to tiled and second fixed in 2 days .Get real and get back to how it was when they only called in tradies as the last resort.

Get me on next year and I will show some work getting done ,not just shopping .

  2. So the age group for the block is 20-60. What do they think people over 60 have reached their used by date? It is a great show but always a certain age group. I think it would be much more enjoyable if we saw mothers and sons or fathers and daughters, regardless of age. Since the dark ages kids have never listened to their parents, I think the clashes would make for interesting viewing.

  3. So ive been to ninemsn.com.au/theblock an nothing even comes up about it! It goes tothe nine msn home page… So how do i apply for next season

  4. The Block seem to have listened to the early criticism. They have put lots more actual renovation footage into eps. Even on their p*ssy challenge nights they spend some time catching up on reno stuff. I thought eps would have been edited and in the can weeks ago ready for airing. Maybe not. Especially since they have extended wed nights and added Sunday eps.

  5. Having worked on this series of the Block, I must say that it looks fabulous and I think you will all be pleasantly surprised. How can there be a winner when the auction hasnt happened yet guys! ?

  6. Here’s an opportunity for all the complainer to audition for the show. Problem is, most of you guys who complain about the lack of diversity probably are Anglo/European.

  7. maybe they cab show some renovating next year.. this year seems to be a hybrid show, including aspects of bargain hunt, other challenges, etc etc
just show us renovating like the old block used to be
