The Nine Network has confirmed it will not be renewing Rescue Special Ops for a fourth season.
A Nine spokesperson told the Sunday Telegraph, “Rescue has been a much loved drama and Nine has decided this will be its final season.
“It ends while it’s still going strong.”
This year saw the third season boosted from 13 episodes to an impressive 22 eps. with episode 16 set to air tomorrow night.
Produced by Southern Star, its producers Julie McGauran and Sarah Smith are also producing Wild Boys for Seven -one of its first non in-house productions in a long time- plus a telemovie Dripping with Chocolate for BBC Worldwide.
The exit of Rescue follows that of Sea Patrol after 5 seasons but Nine’s drama slate is still quite buoyant with Underbelly: Razor, Beaconsfield, Kerry Packer’s World Series Cricket all yet to air, and a rumoured new drama from Screentime tipped to be announced.
New telemovie Sundowner will also be produced by Cordell Jigsaw.

Australia’s channel 9 is finally producing a modern world class show and the powers to be obviously can,t handle the success and decide to cancel it. I suppose its easier to treat us like mushrooms and continue to turn out the absolute drivel that we have become accustomed to. When will they learn???????????
im really annoyed that its getting axed so annoyed best show ever its only got 3 seasons i want more how sad to see it go thats the only show i watch on channel 9 and thats the only show i have on to watch on a monday 🙁 after its gone i will never watch channel 9 again.
When i come home from school. I wait for rescue to come on but now its going to be shit without it. Gigi,Andrew ,kathrine,Peter,libby,Daniel look they might be tring to get it back . nine you make the best shows look all im asking is that you read this and think what you have done look if people are reading this im going to make a facebook page with we get over 100,000 peopel to like it we can get it back same sea patrol look all im asking is that we do this plz like the page plus if you from australia get peopel sign a petishon done the same thing peopel im tring to get it back plz help im only 14 but if we do this we can get it back.
I really enjoyed all seasons and am sick of 9 axing all the good shows. Like really we live in Australia and we are axing our aussie shows!! And replacing them with american crap. ( no offence to anyone) But first Blue Heelers, then All Saints, McLeods Daughters, Sea Patrol and Now Rescue!! Australia is full of great actors (some of the best i believe) and i am sick of not seeing their shows on our tv channells!!! Wake up Channel 9 and listen to Aussies!!!!!
Gee once again the television network has axed yet another Aussie Show.. and for what another American one…. or another renovators, cooking or dating show…. This is excatcly the reason why people turn out from watching tv programs as they just end up getting axed if the tv producers aren’t happy with the ratings… Hey if one person is watching it the leave it alone.
this really sucks! Every time there is a good show on it gets axed.
I finally found a show i liked,that was’nt some American crap or reality tv show and what are you going to replace it with?probably another American show or a reality tv show.

Rescue is the best thing on and this show is making rescue paramedics a popular job.

I am disgusted that Rescue is not returning next year it is a great show I always watch it on Monday nights. Please don’t replace it with another yankee cop show they are all so boring and predictable also no more yankee medical programs or reality rubbish either

Nooo!!!!!!!! Devastating!!!! this is by far the best show on tv, i live in the UK, me and my sister both love this show so much, cant believe its been axed! Cant it just be moved to another channel by the producers?!?! OMG this has dented my life, i Love this show!! Oh Nine, im so unhappy with you now!
Live in UK and disgusted this is being dropped. Love the characters, they are all brilliant. So well made, such a shame, it was sp good.
Devastated! I loved this show so much I would even sit through those ridiculous 7′ O Block ads to watch it! It is really disappointing that Nine will keep replaying CSI Miami repeats, and other crap American shows (and equally annoying Aussie design shows, why do you need 2??) but won’t support the Aussie drama! Yeah this show could be a bit hit and miss, but it was also often exciting, amusing and entertaining! And I loved that it was filmed in Sydney, so many beautiful places to shoot! Really disappointed in Channel 9. Rescue was at least as good as Sea Patrol (I actually enjoyed it much more) and it therefore deserves at least another season. Sigh. But yeah, cancel it. Make space for another design show. I feel that I haven’t seen enough of annoying people bitching about wall paper.
Such a shame as it really is one a the few good shows on at the moment. No doubt to be replaced by some third rate cookery or music programme.

I am sooo upset that rescue is ending! Like im 16 and its the only show i watch! Im gunna cry wen it ends! So not happy jan! i wanna make a petition to get it back on, i dont want it to end!!!
All I can say is this is a shame , Rescue in my opinion is one of the better shows on right now. Why do they all cancel the best shows during their prime?

my partner and i love this show we watch it every night, mind you some night it was a bit so so but still great entertainment non the less, so dose this mean they will put on more crap american cop shows of just throw on even more replays of 3 n half men or big bang theory 🙁

Rescue Special Ops is an awsome show! I dont get why their axing it if they say its a good show.Why does nine have to cancel so many shows? I never watched any of the other shows they axed before but I heard they were good and i’m pretty sure heaps of people watched them.
It’s always bad to hear Aussie Dramas being axed. Hope Rush returns on TEN soon and becomes a ratings hit. It deserves to – its so good!
rso axed should never have been greenlit in the first place good cast wasted on rubbish memo to nine execs how bout the young doctors remake as a replacement as remakes or reboots as they’re called in the industry seem to de riguer these days over underbelly and police drama’s except for the quality city homicide some good ole aussie family drama’s is what this country is lacking!
This is a shame. Agree with a lot of the comments that the first series was not so good but it has improved a lot and the introduction of Todd Lasance’s character created an interesting love triangle between Les Hill and Gigi Edgley. A shame because this series has been sharper and more ‘Police Rescue’ like.
