Glee casting update

Which cast member is out of the picture for Glee's third season?

Chord Overstreet who plays Sam Evans in Glee is unlikely to be seen much in the third season.

The Hollywood Reporter notes his option as a series regular has not been picked up.

The blonde heartthrob joined the series in the second season, as a member of William McKinley High football team. Across the season he has been involved in romances with Quinn Fabray (Dianna Agron), played the role of Rocky in The Rocky Horror Picture Show tribute and become a running gag as ‘Trout Mouth.’

But supporting actors Harry Shum Jr. (Mike Chang) and Darren Criss (Blaine Anderson) have been upped to series regulars.

Criss said recently, “I have no idea what to expect in Season 3, but I think it’s going to be nothing but positives.”

Actors Kevin McHale (Artie), Harry Shum Jr (Mike Chang), Ashley Fink (Lauren Zizes) and Dot Jones (Coach Beiste) will visit Sydney and Melbourne for a fan forum later this month.

  1. Good news. Sam was a (by and large) pointless character while Mike Chang and Blaine have been great additions to the series.

    Look forward to season three!

  2. And what looks!

Chord is just yummy and will be sorely missed.

They should have got rid of that Finn character instead.

    More Chord less Corey!

    A bad move Glee producers.

  3. I don’t think his character had much depth until they added the homeless story in, but overall his character won’t be missed that much.

I can understand others point of view (on other sites) that wonder why Sam has not been retained on a full-time basis, while Mike Chang (who doesn’t sing – on a singing show) has.

Mike Chang definitely adds something to the show though, while the Sam character was there (for the majority of his time) just for looks.
