Hamish and Andy’s Times Square billboard

It's now less than two weeks before Hamish & Andy hit our screens. They've got a NY billboard and are assembling a studio in a warehouse in Brooklyn.

Less than two weeks to go for Hamish and Andy’s Gap Year and the marketing campaign has been rolling out.

Launching at 8:30pm Thursday July 28, the show could have some serious competition. It’s tipped to be the same night that 3 MasterChef contestants become 2. But that’s yet to be confirmed.

The Herald Sun has been in New York with the boys and brings us some tidbits about what to expect:

They have taken over an entire floor of a warehouse in Brooklyn, a stone’s throw from the East River. The space is rapidly becoming a TV studio.

While much of the boys’ Gap Year show is being kept under wraps, Blake said there would be a house band of New York subway buskers, a giant inflatable Statue of Liberty and one segment on each show where he and Lee ventured to different parts of America looking for weird and funny events.

There’s more on the studio space here:

There’s also a cute promo with the boys in front a billboard of themselves in Times Square. After MasterChef‘s NY visit, it’s pretty clear that if you can make it there you can make it anywhere. Wait a minute….

  1. I want to join in the bashing of these guys, but they’re not actually that bad.

Their ‘Real Stories’ show on Ten five or six years ago was woeful though.

  2. Well done to Hamish & Andy on their new and upcoming show, looking forward to seeing it and their finally on the best network ‘Nine’. This will be a hit in minutes, Nine yearly rating seem more promising now.

  3. think its actually a very clever campaign…totally anti nine and much more in line with the way Hamish and Andy do things. I’m guessing this one will work.

  4. excited, i’ll definitely be watching… i love their radio show, sad that it was replaced 4 days a week by the very unfunny Jules Lund and really annoying Fifi Box!!

  5. MC Finale is tipped to be Aug 7th; I would think Ten wouldn’t wait a a whole week between final 2 announcement and finale that would be plain stupid.
If it is indeed Aug 7th we may see just 1 eliminated contestant for the next 2 weeks.

  6. Don’t care what the poo-poo brigade say, I now know what I’ll be watching when I’m not watching Crownies. They’re daggy but I think they’re meant to be.

  7. Why not just watch Flight of the Conchords, everybody? This sounds like a copy of that. Couldn’t H&A come up with a better idea? Oh, no, that’s right they’re on Channel Nine…so no, they probably weren’t allowed to.

  8. if i see the ad one more time where andy is singing “new york, new york” I’ll.. well.. i don’t know what i will do… but is singing that song in new york funny? original? interesting? argh..
