Julia Gillard & Tony Abbott become guest hosts on 7PM Project

Update: Julia Gillard will co-host The 7PM Project and the show is also looking for 5 ordinary Aussies to co-host next week.

This week The 7PM Project has invited politicians onto the show, to co-host an entire episode.

Julia Gillard will co-host The 7PM Project on Tuesday night, joining Dave Hughes, Carrie Bickmore and Dr. Andrew Rochford who is filling in for Charlie Pickering.

All week the show is having “Pollie Week” with politicians invited to co-host a nightly episode.

A statement reads, “Some shows think politicians are boring, not us, they really do make Hughesy’s day! In a 7PM Project first, each night a Politician joins us at the desk to co-host the show and the invites are out!”

First co-host tonight is outspoken independent Bob Katter.

On Wednesday night Tony Abbott will take a panel chair, with Greens’ Adam Bandt on Thursday and Julie Bishop on Friday*.

Thursday’s guest is yet to be announced (it really should be Wyatt Roy, aged 20?).

Gillard is also a guest on Q & A tonight.

Check it out at 7pm, obviously, on TEN.

UPDATE: And next week the show is allowing five ordinary Aussies to co-host the show.

To celebrate our second birthday next week (w/c July 18), we’ve put an extra chair at the 7PM Project desk and we’d love you to fill it!

We’re putting out the call for everyday Aussies to share the desk with Carrie, Charlie and Hughesy each night next week.

Whether you’re a cleaner concerned about carbon tax or a grandmother gun ho  (or even gung ho? -DK) for gay marriage, it doesn’t matter who you are, what you do or where you come from – we want you to be a part of our show.

If you think you’ve got what it takes to be a Project co-host then jump onto www.7pmproject.com.au and tell us all about yourself!

  1. I found last night’s episode of Q&A really borring. It did not help that Julia’s voice was so droning and borring and uninspired but what made it worse was that she was giving the same dull scripted answers thinking that it will have any effect on the people who have already made up their minds. I am amazed how much faith she had in corporate Australia. I really think that her faith is misplaced. I bet she will once again serve up the same old boring dribble and not answer the question. Bob Katter last was awesome.

  2. That could of been the funniest 7PM Project in the history of the show. Bob is surprisingly more hilarious than Hughesy. Last night’s Q&A was actually interesting for once also, however I don’t understand why their crowd is a bunch of odd looking individuals.

  3. Well Bob Katter rambled on about nothing basically. On the other hand Julia Gillard was clear, concise and convincing on Q & A. Just a pity that Tony Jones who is supposed to be the moderator of the show chose to take on the role of attacking Julia on many points.

  4. @Ranco, there is a known fact that people are more negative and will say it, than those who have either a positive view or a neutral view. The old adage of “give bad customer service and that person will tell 17 others”. If you have a negative opinion, you are more likely to post!

  5. Steven Guy – couldn’t agree more! I am sick of narrow-minded people declaring they will not watch because of Gillard of whoever. It is one thing to have an opinion but anyone with half a brain makes informed decisions and questions all perspectives.

    1. Ranco: There’s certainly passion, but it isn’t exclusive to this site. Check Twitter, Yahoo, News Ltd and other blogs and you will find similar anonymous criticism. That said, apathy would be a bigger problem for networks.
