  1. Who has a rating meter. No one I know so how to they get their numbers from. I thought pay tv wasn’t about ratings Now it’s all about ratings and commercials no respect for the paying customer Foxtel. Love to show repeats and repeats mainly Law and Order did they get this for free… We want to know how they can justify taking of General Hosptial when they don’t have one show in the ratings! List…

  2. I lasted about an hour into Falling Skies on the first episode… then the fact that it didn’t seem interesting.. obvious story lines… and the fact that there was an ad every 3 minutes it would seem, I lost interest.

Looks like I’m not the only one.

  3. @Joe

They don’t have ads on during games of footy. Your point is moot and also wrong.

  4. MJL because advertisements in Metro areas are more valuable as they businesses and other companies that advertise into metro places are guarenteed that the viewer will know of – be close to the product / business being advertised. In rural areas you might only live in a town of 25k and not all businesses may be present there.

  5. Pity Falling Skies isn’t rating so well, good thing it’s numbers in the US are much better. But unlike FTA it’s unlikely Fox8 will cut the show and it’s only got 10 eps so not a 22 ep commitment for them anyway.

  6. Thanks David.
I didn’t notice the headings…just looked at the numbers!
It would mean more if it was a ‘sum of all broadcasts’ rather than an average, as some shows have a couple of airings whereas others have loads….but as they say, you can make statistics say whatever you want.
Besides, foxtel has a million plus subscribers at an average of $50+ a month….ratings don’t really matter.

  7. David…Does PayTV ratings take into account the multiple showing times or the recording to IQ boxes to watch later?
cos this is kinda the whole point of paytv (well for non-sport shows anyway)

i.e. Does the Project Runway only count for its premiere time on Arena, or is this ‘same’ showing on +2 also included? etc

    1. Depends which table you are reading. The first is just the premiere ep, the other is multiple eps. This is often why Pay TV doesn’t like being measure alongside FTA. Their model is very different.
