Alan Dale to play Prince Charming’s dad in new US series

Alan Dale has been cast in a new fairytale drama by two Lost producers.

Alan Dale has his next American gig, set to play the father of Prince Charming in a new fairytale drama Once Upon a Time from Lost producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis.

The new series, to air on US network ABC in fall, will  feature the former Neighbours actor in just one episode but it may not remain so fleeting.

“It’s a really pivotal role, and a pivotal part of the Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) story that we don’t think has been told yet,” Horowitz tells TVLine, “but we’re leaving the door open for a larger tale to potentially tell with him.”

And knowing how impressive Dale has been in other shows such as Lost, Ugly Betty, The OC -to name a few- that he’s bound to ramp up the appearances. He recently appeared in The Killing for AMC.

Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, have already placed several references to Lost in their new series, including a clock stuck at 8:15 and a Geronimo Jackson bumper sticker.

Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof is also a series consultant.

  1. I’m interested in the series and hope it’ll be good. I also liked the trailer. Thank you for telling us about Alan Dale. I love how he seems to be able to work almost anywhere in the English speaking world. I look forward to you being able to tell us when the series will air here. Although I also dread that I might not be able to watch it. I guess time will tell (no pun intended ) .

  2. I just watched the trailer for ‘Once Upon a Time’ and it looks pretty good. It is airing on Sunday nights at 8pm on ABC in the states which is a very good timeslot, which shows ABC have faith in it. It leads into the final season of Desperate Housewives over there.

‘From the Creators of Lost’. That could either be a good thing or bad thing, depending on your perspective. I for one think it is a good thing as I enjoyed all six seasons of Lost. So am henceforth looking forward to this!

  3. Of all the new shows coming in the next year this is the one i am very very excited about. Alan Dale seems to have been in everything but this show looks sooo good and i have heard its got the critics talking quite a bit. Can’t wait to see it.
