Alive and Cooking: Aug 1 – 5

James Reeson is hosting the third season of WIN's own kitchen series, Alive and Cooking.

I must admit that because of the wide readership of this blog, I don’t often pay much attention to shows that don’t air nationally.

That makes it tricky to often talk about city-centric shows such as Postcards and Community TV, for example. I usually look to profile such shows when there is a point of difference.

But for no particular reason today it’s time to spread the love to WIN’s own Alive and Cooking, currently in its third season.

Hosted by James Reeson, it airs on WIN and NBN in regional Australia, and Nine in Adelaide and Perth in the arvos.

I’m not too sure when I’ll get around to listing its synopsis again, but here’s what’s coming up this week:

Every week James cooks up a quick and delicious family meal from simple easy to get ingredients that  won’t bust the budget. Today’s meal features James’ own sweet and delicious granola and a healthy Tuna  Frittata. For desert there is a delicious sweet choc chip cookie swirl cake that will have you coming back for more.

On Tuesday James creates some unique and delicious recipes, including a healthy Pumpkin and Cashew  stir fry and his own style Fried Chicken.

It’s hard to go past a roast as a winter favourite. On Wednesday James reveals how easy the roasting  process is and how delicious the results can be.

Anyone for cake? On Thursday James bakes some of his favourite cakes including a flourless Orange  Cake especially for celiac’s, plus a delicious Chocolate Chocolate Mudcake. That’s double the chocolate  …Yum!

James takes the kitchen to the farm on Fri  day as he visits the Green and Gold Vegetable Market Garden in Terarra NSW. Set amidst rich coastal soils and flourishing vegetable gardens James creates three delicious dishes from some of the in season winter veggies including leeks, red cabbages and cauliflower.

All that and more, this week on Alive and Cooking. Visit our website for recipes from every episode of Alive  and Cooking – www.aliveandcooking.com.au

Alive and Cooking airs weekdays at 11.30am on WIN.

  1. Great Show James Reeson . My wife and I always watch the show. Your recipes always turn out for us and I am a very fussy eater. You are the best chef and cooking show on TV. please keep it up. I also like your type of humour. Any critics out there probably don’t have a sense of humour and don’t have enough brains to cook for themselves anyhow. maybe their Mums still cooks for them.
    keep it up James.

  2. BBQ Pork??? Golden syrup he has to be joking. He should spend a few $$$and buy a AWW cook book. Chinese. A chef you are joking. A lot of difference between balsamic,Chinese and white vinegar. Not according to James.what a shocka.

  3. Hi James, watch your show every day and my hubby and I always have a good laugh, as you make cooking so much fun. Love the recipes as they are usually so very easy and delicious!

  4. Thank you for this program, because of James, Iam encouraged to try cooking again after many years, He is a great teacher and encourager and makes cooking fun , I always look forward to his program, hope it stays alive and cooking.

  5. Yesterdays show on NBN was the worst cooking show I have ever seen. Goodbye James never again will we watch any show with you in it.Cooking you are kidding.

  6. @Peter, i never knew that i just always thought it was odd how the news just stops and then when the ads finishh Alive & Cooking is on lol. That pretty crap by Nine then. Personally i think the guy can’t cook. The way he talks is just annoying and he recylces the same joke over and over

  7. And in Adelaide, Channel 9 cuts out of the Morning News Hour to put on this show! Seriously! A 1 hour news coverage is chopped in 1/2 – obviously in Adelaide bananas are more important than the economy.

  8. As someone who knows the production cast: make sure you watch the opener for James biting the head off a fresh prawn… which he didn’t mean to do. In the moment, he thought they were already peeled.

  9. I remember some time ago Ch 9 screened this show.
    I loved it. He’s gorgeous 😉
Pity Ch9 wouldn’t bring it back!! Hint. Hint. 🙂

  10. I remember i saw James first on a 10 minute segment on ABC TV called “James Can cook” i think that was back in the early 2000s. I quite like this new show and have been watching it since last year. Very good production. Hopefully a commercial free to air Network will pick him up and use his tallents in the kitchen maybe Ten could for the Circle or maybe their new “Morning Show” next year so that more people can see how good his is.
