FOX8 will screen America’s Got Talent later this year.

The reality competition series features celebrity judges Sharon Osbourne (The Osbournes, The Talk, The Celebrity Apprentice), Howie Mandel (St Elsewhere, Deal Or No Deal) and CNN host Piers Morgan. It is hosted by Nick Cannon.

Foxtel Executive Director of Television, Brian Walsh, said: “The Got Talent franchise is a smash hit worldwide, including Australia and the United Kingdom. America’s Got Talent is a sure fire ratings hit, as seen by its recent record breaking figures in its season debut in the US, and we’re thrilled to have secured the rights to the US franchise.

“Buoyed by our success with American Idol and Got To Dance, FOX8 is the perfect home for this juggernaut entertainment series.”

David Hasselhoff was also a judge from 2006 to 2009, but replaced by Mandel in 2010. The sixth series recently premiered in the US.

  1. FOX8 offer great programming, especially its reality content, but the problem with the reality programming is that they air it too far past that of its original airing. This isnt the case with American Idol, which is why it is such a success, but is the case with Got (Live) To Dance and the Top Model francise – with both shows having average ratings due to their delay and the increase in online sharing/downloading. If FOX8 had decided to show it within 24 hours as it does with Idol than it would have a better chance of higher ratings, but a smart programming expansion choice. I expect with the launch of a male-oriented channel (rumored to be FX – I know a stupid name choice with it being the old name of W) this year that some of FOX8’s programming will be moved and FOX8 are trying to avoid the American pay-TV channel issue of multiple channels having the same programming.
