TEN to revive Young Talent Time ….and even It’s a Knockout?

Speculation is rife ahead of next week's 2012 Programming Launch that some old faves are coming back.

Speculation is rife ahead of next week’s 2012 Programming Launch that some old faves are coming back.

Legendary media buyer Harold Mitchell has written in the The Age:

“But now the electricity is firing through the Ten Network with some big announcements scheduled for next week. The management will make it clear to the advertising market that they are back to high-level targeting, which is a great way to convince advertisers to pour money back into the station.”

“Rumour is that Ten is going to come out with a spectacular breakfast program.

“Other program speculations are for a Grundy version of It’s A Knockout plus a bikie wars series from the Underbelly mob. So it looks like Ten is going to have a bit more muscle and could well be a serious force again.”

TEN has already confirmed The Bikie Wars: Brothers in Arms a long time ago.

Sarah Murdoch, wife of interim CEO Lachlan Murdoch, is tipped to be a presenter if a breakfast show goes ahead. Murdoch was considered a success when she co-hosted the Today show prior to Lisa Wilkinson.

Meanwhile the Herald Sun speculates that TEN may revive Young Talent Time:

“It is understood the show — which produced some of Australia’s brightest stars, including Tina Arena, Debra Byrne and sisters Kylie and Dannii Minogue — will be back on Network Ten, which screened the original.

“A Ten spokesperson declined to comment yesterday, but it is believed an announcement on the new YTT will be made as early as next week.”

  1. I used to love Young Talent Time when I was growing up. I hope they do revive this old favourite. And while they’re at it, I am another who wants them to repeat old eps on Eleven, in fact, I actually wrote as much on their Facebook page.

  2. This is a stupid idea. Remakes are stupid however old or young they are. 90-95% of them fail in their first year. Oh well TEN can go ahead because for all i care they can continue to slip and drop off the face of the Earth after this year.

  3. Wow.. pretty interesting. I guess the Friday Night Games/FNL with Big Brother were somewhat of a smaller It’s A Knockout so will be interesting to see how they bring it back bigger than that.

  4. Sarah Murdoch by surname alone is worth hundreds of millions of dollars…. along with already working on Aus Top Model why would she want to slug it out daily every morning on a full time basis??

Plus she’s not a journalist and if it’s a news/entertainment show wouldn’t you need a credible journalist at the helm?

  5. An while the rumours are going around is it true the ph balance is being checked in Studio7 Dorcas street pool for a return of Man O Man? We need more man flesh of televsion I say! ; )

  6. Time for a new approach Channel 10.I for one would like for them to have a Sex and the City/Winners and Losers/Rafters kind of show and while they are at it get rid of all that Criminal Intent/NCIS garbage

  7. A breakfast show with a difference – enter Negus, Sarah Murdoch, Brad from Sports Tonight and Sandra Sully. Host it as a panel and be different to 7 and 9.

You’d get some of your ABC and Today audience. It’d be a knockout blow against Sunrise too. The panel is the main thing so it’s different.

  8. Why does everyone bash Lachlan Murdoch at every possible chance? Why don’t you people go and try and be the slightest bit successful in your own lives rather than knocking one of the most successful families that this country has every had. Go and vote for Julia, and dumb down Australia along with her.

  9. I agree. I think TEN are jumping on the Glee bandwagon. I think YTT should be left alone.

I still don’t think there is a need for a breakfast show on TEN. The Circle covers all the basis. Its good to have the news on if you don’t feel like watching 7 or 9.

  10. Reviving old shows does not work at all. Seven revived Gladiators it lasted 1 season, they also revived Perfect Match it last 1 year also. The reviving of old Tv shows (not counting the Block) does not work. How about creating something new and innovative, oh wait none of the commerical networks can do that, that is why they almost always feel the need to revive old formats. Anyway if Young Talent Time is revived than that will just give a reason for stage parents to push thier kids into this show so that they can live through them like always.

  11. IAK would have the potential to be great. Aimed at a ‘Your Gen’ level/style of family fun, it might yet be revivable.

(and ditto to the requests for the old eps on Eleven.)
