Variety the spice of Micallef’s life

Is Shaun Micallef looking to exit Your Gen already? Maybe. Maybe not. But he does enjoy a mix of TV roles on and off-screen.

Is Shaun Micallef looking to exit Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation already?

The show has only just wrapped its third season, which returned to screens last night.

One of the themed-specials is a “Topsy Turvy” episode, in which the cast all swap roles. Micallef becomes Gen-Y Team Captain while Amanda Keller becomes host.

An article in the Herald Sun yesterday speculated that it was a way to test Keller as the next TBYG host.

Yesterday Micallef told TV Tonight the episode was loads of fun, but didn’t allude to any hidden agendas.

He also confirmed previous talk of a chat show was now off the table, but sees 2012 as a mix of possible opportunities.

“It’s always been my habit and preference to try and do a number of things. I wouldn’t do another show as well as Generation-presenting. I think it would be good to do one show presenting, which you would do for a certain number of weeks, and then another show where you might get to act, and another show where maybe I’m just writing or producing,” he said.

“I have a good relationship with TEN. They’ve been extraordinarily open to ideas and suggestions from me for ideas on Generation and they’ve been quite receptive to ideas that are beyond Generation as well.

“So I’m looking forward to continuing that with them. But it’s a question of what they need. If it turns out they want a variety show then I might be putting my hand up for that as well.”

In addition to his presenting Micallef has recently appeared in acting stints in Offspring and Laid.

  1. Love the show, can’t stand Micallef. Could somebody pls hide the red cordial before and during the show! The guy’s agitating voice and hyper active movements make me hyperventilate. Learn to Relax a bit mate!

  2. I reckon that the show would only be 20% of what it is without Shaun, ill hold off final judgement till we see Amanda host it, but i don’t think anyone can do it justice (esp Amanda, she is great and all but lacks the fun, like last night when she was complaining about the point, who cares we all know the first 55minutes has nothing to do with who wins)
