  1. The last time I ever saw and AFL game delayed into Perth. From next year, all 9 games will be live (including Friday Night Footy), ad-break free and in HD from round 1 right till to the Finals series and the Brownlow Medal. Bring on 2012 😀

  2. Seven will show Friday night’s AFL Preliminary Final between Collingwood versus Hawthorn live in all cities ********except Perth*********.

Channel 7 in a an absolute disgrace,, this is finals football,, this is the 3rd week in a row friday night finals footy has been delayed..>> if they don’t want to bump the news put it on 7mate 7two. Hopefully foxtel will fix this crap next year.!

  3. @ farhan

With Aussie metro having 87% HD penetration and 92% with Digital access the difference between using 7TWO or 7mate is minor.
7TWO does older skewing sports, i.e tennis – wimbledon, davis cup etc.
7mate does younger male skewed sports – afl.
The sports fit the brand of the channel they’re on. works for me.

  4. @johno. I said that it wasnt going to be Live because i live in Adelaide and i am pretty sure we here in adelaide will not get Live FNF regularly because there will be a half hour delay, better then now and the last 10 years but still not good enough.

  5. i live in melbourne so the only match i’ll miss at a decent timing is the friday night NRL prelim between manly-broncos;

but how do they decide between 7TWO and 7mate/GEM v GO……what is that based on (the decision to prefer GEM and 7mate to the other option on those respective channel) if anything, it should be the opposite, since 7two and go are more accessable, seeing as GEM and 7mate are not accessable to viewers using foxtel via satellite

  6. @thebgl Win television coverage mirrored that of GTV-9 during the regular session but during the final series Win has shown all of the finals live while the GTV-9 has shown them on delay

  7. Yes once again Live AFL on a Friday NIght. If only this could be the norm during the home and away season but sadly it is not. Still i hope West Coast cause an upset.

  8. And it was really this hard to do this all year long?? Live footy in all cities (sorry Perth) and BH&G on Saturday night. Should have been that way from round 1.

    And once again
    Syd: 7:30pm: 7mate (10:30pm Seven)
    Bris: 7:30pm: 7mate (10:30pm Seven)

So Nine, where’s live NRL in Adelaide on GEM???? If Seven can do it, so can you.

  9. Yes, I agree that this is great news, especially for Storm fans in Victoria (WIN-TV in regional Victoria and Tasmania has roughly the same schedule as Ch.9 Melbourne of course).

However I think GTV -9 would have been hesitant to show the Storm Vs Warriors NRL match live if the Geelong Vs West Coast AFL match was played and screened at the same time over on TEN.

The Storm can thank the AFL for moving this game to Sat. afternoon at the MCG…..to help the WC Eagles (in case they somehow pull an upset win against the Cats) with travel arrangements and recovery after the game I suspect….
