Yet another fast-tracked US drama is coming to Nine, this time crime / mystery Unforgettable, starring Aussie Poppy Montgomery.

It will replace Hamish and Andy at 8:30pm on Thursday, October 6th, around two weeks after its US premiere tomorrow.

Montgomery stars as Carrie Wells, an enigmatic former detective who suffers from the extremely rare condition hyperthymesia. This disorder makes her hyper-observant, with a memory so flawless that every place, every conversation, every moment of joy and heartbreak is forever embedded in her mind.

And as well as remembering every single thing she can’t forget anything either, except for the details of the day her sister was murdered years ago.

Tortured, Carrie has tried to put her past behind her. Without a job, she survives on her wits as a “card counter” at casinos and does volunteer work at a nursing home where her dementia-ridden mother lives. But when she becomes the sole witness to a brutal murder in her building, Carrie is unexpectedly reunited with her ex-boyfriend and partner, NYPD Detective Al Burns (Dylan Walsh, Nip/Tuck) who is investigating the case. Knowing the value of her brilliant and complex memory, he asks her to consult on the murder.

Being back on the job feels surprisingly right for Carrie. Despite her conflicted feelings for Al she decides to join his unit permanently as a detective solving homicides – most notably, the unsolved murder of her sister. All she needs to do is remember …

From the producers of Justified and Without a Trace, and based on the J. Robert Lennon short story The Rememberer, this captivating series will have you doing anything but forget.

  3. Another decent program on Nine, and fast-tracked. It’s not even my birthday. The usual caveats apply but I’ll give this a look. Hope it makes it thru the season.

  4. a few years ago ‘fasttracking’ pretty much meant. ‘not held over to February’ and 2 week was probably considered super-fasttracking. holding shows for 2 weeks makes perfect sense to me they’ll be caught up with america in no time with all the random breaks the shows take in the US. especially a show like Unforgettable, whose going to be keen enough to spend their time downloading it? doesnt look interesting at all.

  5. Some fair points David! Just thought it was an interesting topic to raise. I guess two or so weeks can be called “fast tracked”, while anything shown within a matter of hours or within a day can be called “straight off the satellight”. Perhaps there’s an upcoming poll question in that! What do you classify as fast tracked?

  7. I agree David and everyone will have their own opinion depending on the shows they watch, I’m sure there are some getting 2.5 Men even though it will be on TV here in less than 8 hours.

    This one looks okay, just hope I can find the time to check it out.

  8. How long of a period does the word “fast tracked” encompass? I would think two weeks isn’t really fast tracked. Tonight’s episode of Two and a Half Men is fast tracked, being only a few hours after it’s shown in America, same with tomorrow night’s episode of Glee. The whole point of fast tracking is to minimize piracy, well I doubt people who desperately want to see this show are going to wait two weeks.

    1. It’s open to interpretation. I’d day about 2 weeks is the max because it still wildly contrasts where we were historically, every year waiting until February. So I think it’s fair to allow networks some room to get promo materials, factor in pre-empted weeks for Thanksgiving etc….. But I guess for some even a few hours isn’t fast enough!

  10. I just a little scarred to think what will happen in a month or so if a bunch of these new shows fail in the US or here, Nine and TEN will be back to square one.

    I hope the show works for Montgomery.

    Media Watch recently had a piece on Nine cross promoting shows with stories on 60 Minutes, this was one of them.
