Gruen Planet: Sept 28

Gruen Planet asks its image experts how they would reposition Julia Gillard and whether an appearance on Junior Masterchef will help or not.

We’ll be getting a fair bit of analysis on spin on your ABC with both Gruen Planet and The Hamster Wheel tackling it from various angles.

Gruen Planet also looks at branding, advertising and image control with Wil Anderson, Todd Sampson and Russel Howcroft. For their first episode they are joined by Lauren Miller Cilento, (Harry M Miller Group) and ‘self-described marketing bloke and propagandist from Melbourne’, Toby Ralph.

They have now settled on the topics for the first show and they are:

· The only leader on Earth more besieged than Gaddafi… our Prime Minister, Julia Gillard.

Is there any hope for the PM? How would our Gruen communication specialists reposition her? Will an appearance on Junior Masterchef help? Or is she a Dead Woman Walking?

· SABMiller’s$12.3 billion purchase of Fosters. How do you sell Aussie beers that are no longer Aussie? How do you manage the public and media blacklash? Do brands really need to worry about patriotism?

· THE PITCH. In Grand Final week for the NRL and AFL, with the atrocities of mad Monday just around the corner, we’ve asked our agencies to come up with a campaign to convince Australians that we should stop expecting our footballers to be role models.
Blackbocks (Adelaide) Vs Cooch (Perth)

· SPIN CYCLE. We look at three recent attempts to sell us a product, service, person or idea and nominate a winner. Who will it be?

9pm Wednesday on ABC1.

  1. Will definetly watch, this show is kick ass. Yes how do you sell a beer company which is not australian any more well you simply dont. Also sports stars should not be role models parents should be. I think that there is something very wrong with the society which puts sports stars on a huge and high pedalstool and when they fall off it for just common human behaviour we tear them down for it , isn’ amazing how hypocritical we are.
