Melissa George, who is about to appear in The Slap for ABC1, will star in a BBC-Cinemax series Nemesis, created by former X-Files executive producer Frank Spotnitz.
The eight episode suspense thriller is said to be in the vein of The Bourne Identity, set in the world of international espionage.
George will play a highly skilled operative who must perform secretive duties without knowing who to trust and who wants her dead.
The former Home and Away star has also appeared in Alias, Grey’s Anatomy and In Treatment and the upcoming miniseries Bag of Bones, based on Stephen King’s book, co-starring opposite Pierce Brosnan.

Lovin’ me some Melissa George spy thriller show. I missed her when she died on Alias.
Frank Spotnitz? Good pedigree there. I liked Melissa George in Alias, it was just a shame her character was such a bitch.
I am getting the feeling that Nemesis has been made as the BBC’s replacement for Spooks.
