Natarsha Belling leads new-look weekend TEN News team

Updated: Natarsha Belling, Matt Doran, Rob Canning and Magdelena Rose will front TEN's weekend News.

TEN has announced its presenting team for its revamped weekend News bulletin.

It includes Sydney presenter Natarsha Belling, reporter Matt Doran, sports reporter Rob Canning and former Weather Channel presenter Magdelena Rose.

The 90 minute bulletin will replace the current local bulletins in various states and the 6pm bulletin the currently airs from Sydney.

I’m still not sold on the idea of 90 minutes of news on the weekend. Last night I watched 15 minutes of a local bulletin, about half of which was fluff. Not much happens on Sundays!

But I do like the contemporary look of this team. I think it helps bring TEN back to offering the point of difference it used to demonstrate. Or maybe it’s just the smooth job the photographer and stylist did.

Updated: Network TEN is pleased to announce the team fronting its extended weekend News at Five bulletin will be led by Natarsha Belling and Matt Doran.

Already the face of TEN’s weekend news and one of Australian TV’s most recognised and popular news
presenters, Natarsha Belling has more than a decade of experience reporting and breaking some of the
nation’s major news. Colleague Matt Doran has reported on this year’s biggest stories, from Japan’s tsunami to New Zealand’s earthquake, quickly developing a reputation as one of Australia’s best new talents.

Natarsha Belling says: “For many years TEN has led the way in providing our viewers with a fantastic news service at Five and now we will deliver that same great product seven days a week.”

“As always our news service will be a point of difference, with a smart and informative approach to the issues that matter most. Our team is passionate about striving to deliver the best possible product, so our loyal viewers stay informed about the latest news, sport and weather from their own backyard and across the
country.”

Joining them on the desk is accomplished meteorologist and journalist Magdalena Roze, a fresh addition to the TEN news team who comes with a wealth of experience from her roles at The Weather Channel, National Geographic, and from her regular guest slots on breakfast radio programs across Australia including 4BC, 2GB and 6PR.

“I’m thrilled to join the TEN News family as part of a dynamic weekend News team. The weather is something that impacts every single person, every day, whether it’s family bbqs, weekend sport or farming. It’s a privilege to share my passion for weather with Australians and I’m committed to keeping Australians informed about the weather that affects them.”

Completing the team and delivering all the latest sporting news is TEN’s Rob Canning. Already an invaluable asset in TEN’s news-room, Rob is well known to viewers nationally for his contribution to TEN News and as one of the key journalists and presenters on Sports Tonight.

TEN’s 90 minute extended bulletin brings the weekend in line with the weeknight News at Five bulletin, and marks the Network’s commitment to building a comprehensive news line-up.

The wealth of experience from reporters, crews and journalists in each of the states will be an invaluable resource in delivering content to this program, and with more time for more news, it aims to provide audiences with the most complete wrap up of the weekend’s events.

TEN’s weekend News at Five begins next month.
