Nine WA boss quits

Another resignation from WIN-owned Channel Nine Perth, this time from the General Manager.

Ian McRae, general manager of WIN-owned Channel Nine Perth has announced his resignation.

The West Australian reports that McRae, who has held the role since July 2007, told staff via email he had given the company 4 weeks notice.

“I am delighted to say that I have purchased a wholesale agency distribution business which will be run by myself and my wife, Shiralee. The opportunity to take up the business was too good to refuse and Shiralee and I are both very excited,” he wrote.

“It is also giving me a clean break from working in the media, which I have done now for 32 years. I want to take this opportunity to thank all staff for their support during my time at Channel 9/WIN WA.”

McRae’s resignation if the most significant in a run of departures of late, starting with WA news director Adrian Beattie last September.

They include Dixie Marshall, Rob Broun, Nadia Mitsopoulos, Rob Scott, producer Ruth O’Toole, reporter Alexis Donkin and Michael Thomson.

The channel has also made a round of redundancies from its staff of 80.

WIN Corp WA manager Paul Bowen, a previous Channel Nine WA boss, is the first to be tipped as a possible replacement.
