The series, starring Amanda Redman, Dennis Waterman, Alun Armstrong and James Bolam as retired ex-cops working on unsolved cases, has been pulling audiences of up to 9.6 million viewers per episode in the UK.
Ben Stephenson, controller of BBC Drama Commissioning, said: “New Tricks continues to grow and is a huge favourite with the audience making it the highest rating drama on TV so far this year.
“Amanda, Dennis, Alun and James are a dream team that BBC One viewers have taken to their hearts and I’m thrilled the show will be back on our screens for two more years.”
The series, which airs on ABC1 in Australia, is currently in its eighth series.

WooHoo!!!!!!!!!!!!
i just love it
Brave decision to approve this concept from the beginning but it’s been a winner from the get go. The chemistry between the cast makes you care for these characters and the storylines, for the most part, are pretty good.
Quality scripted comedy/crime/drama… Something Australian tv could aspire to!
Love this show the writing, the acting is outstanding. Can’t wait for the latest series to air here.
That is great news.
One of the best shows on TV.
