Renewed: The Big C

Showtime says yes to more warm and fragile performances from Laura Linney.

Hurrah! It’s a happy Friday with confirmation that Showtime has renewed The Big C for a third season.

That means more warm and fragile performances from Laura Linney as a woman living the moments in the face of cancer.

“We love working together and we’re excited to keep exploring where Cathy’s going,” showrunner Jenny Bicks told The Hollywood Reporter. “We’ve all become, as many shows do, we’ve all become a family, and it’s a terrific place to be so we’re excited to keep going for as long as Cathy can keep going.”

Season Two is currently airing in Australia on GEM on Monday nights showing off its cast of Oliver Platt, Gabourey Sidibe, Cynthia Nixon. Guests this season include Alan Alda, Hugh Dancey and Parker Posey.

  1. Yay. This is my favourite comedy atm. Performances are excellent all round and I’m really enjoying Parker Posey’s character also. No doubt this season’s finale won’t be as heartwrenching as the first season’s but it will be great anyway.

  2. @ Deborah. Couldn’t agree more!

I love The Big C and Laura Linney is sublime. I reckon they also have one of the best supporting casts on TV.

    Yay Showtime!

  3. Great news – ‘Cathy’ lives another season! Love Laura Linney’s work – sublime. I’ve said it before – the Emmy this year is hers – giving her No. 4, and across three different categories. Love Oliver Platt too, he does crumpled and charming so well.
