Seven's reality show returns, this time with a 'geek female' and a 'male beauty.'

Beauty & The Geek is gearing up for what may well be its biggest season yet.
If last year’s ratings and this year’s promos are anything to go by, it looks like Seven has kicked the show up a notch.
This year there is a reverse couple of a ‘geek female’Â Helen and a ‘male beauty’ Troy (are is that Helen of Troy?). Once again the prize is $100,000 for the winning couple.
Hosted by Bernard Curry, the show returns on Thursday, September 22 at 8.30pm.
Will the Beauties be distracted by the hot new boy, or will they build a strong partnership with their Geeks? And will the Geeks gravitate towards the new female Geek rather than putting themselves out of their comfort zones by getting to know their Beauties?
It’s guaranteed to be a fun mix of gorgeous Beauties and academically-gifted Geeks.
Our Beauties are vivacious, fun-loving people who love socialising and being the centre of attention. They’re preened and ready to take centre stage. But ask for their opinions on politics, the solution to a mathematical equation or how to rebuild your hard drive and they’ll be stumped.
Our Geeks are intellectual pin-ups. They love sci-fi, comics, gaming and computers. They are socially-awkward, conversationally-challenged and many are still waiting for their first kiss.
Throw 10 Beauties and 10 Geeks into a mansion together, team them up to compete in a series of challenges to test their brains and charisma and watch as they evolve throughout the process.

The male beauty on the US show was so incredibly hilarious.
I hardly think this, but in this case, the American version (original) is miles ahead in quality. I watched the whole first series of our version and parts of the second and it’s just so silly! The original US series is definitely focusing on the contestants and has a lot of heart. I feel ours is just so gimmicky, fake and distasteful. I’ll throw in lame why I’m at it…

Geeks are people too with feelings
Helen looks pretty hot for a “geek” – she’s definitely rocking the sexy librarian vibe.
I hope she isn’t just another ring-in who has been “geekified” by the producers like some of the male contestants in the past.
I also hope that Troy is just as intellectually … challenged as the female beauties. If I remember correctly, one of the male beauties on the US version spent 99.9% of his time staring in the mirror admiring his reflection.
Can’t wait! I think this show is hilarous. I like how they’re changing things up a bit this season, with the ‘girl geek’ and ‘boy beauty’. It’ll be interesting to see how it goes up against Hamish & Andy.

Shouldn’t this be titled Beauty and the Geek Australia. So its not confused with the US version?
I like the fact they have a female geek on.
I’d kind of love to see a season where the Entire cast is made up of female geeks and male beauties — not only does this reek of tokenism, it also makes the playing field ridiculously uneven (as we saw when the US version tried the twist).
